Jurassic Park: RAMPAGE

Yes, I know that Jurassic Park is Universal, but I had this huge thought of a new ride based on the Jurassic Park triliogy. I thought of using a motion simulator vehicle, like Spider-Man's at IOA,but with headrests like AE, and a roof on top; along with that part of the ride, it would also include a motion simulator helicopter ride, and a ride like Dinosaur(the ride vehicles).

Here's how the whole concept is: Jurassic Park RAMPAGE, is a 3-part ride. The 1st part, is when you are arriving at the island, Isla Nublar; The second, would be the Dinosaur ride like vehicles; and then, the 3rd-aprt, would be the Spider-Man motion simulator ride vehicles.

Now, here is the whole storyline(as imagined in my head), preshow, queue, and ride:

You arrive at the entrance to Jurassic Park: Rampage, which is a giant Jurassic Park logo, struck in midair, holded by the electric fence rods. Behind it, is smoke billowing from the ground, behind it, is a an white aviary, which behind the sign, every 30 seconds, a ride vehicle goes by. You see the entrance, and it is a long one. There will be a Fastpass line, a Standby line, and a Single Rider's line. However, if people just want to go on just one part of the the whole 3-part experience, you can, thorugh an entrance, marked as 'Returning Riders'. Anyway, you choose to go through the Standby line. You go through several electric fences, as the line go through tons of foilage. You go through several stairs, and finally, you see the Visitor's Center as like in the movie. You go through several more stairs, and you finally reach the Visitor's Center. You enter through the 1st floor, and you go around the dinosaur as seen in the movie, and go through a rounded hallway, shielded with glass, as people are working in the genetic lab: But there's no one there. There are tons of debris, broken glass from the hatchery shields, all the mechanical equipment laying on the ground. You look to your left, and you see a door leading to a staircase to the lab. However, the door is scratched, banged, and something continues to bang it, as in a attempt to get out. The lock has been sabotaged, and it won't let anyone get out. It's sarting to get suspicious. As you round the corner, on overhead Plasma LCD displays, this place is not the Visitor's Center: it's a heliport. Finally, at the end of the hallway, you dispatched to one of 8 briefing rooms. Yeah, 8. Anyway, here's the preshow in my mind.

(Screen begins with a black screen, music plays, and InGen logo appears on the screen.)
Lady announcer: Welcome to InGen's special demonstration. InGen is the leader in genetic technology, bringing you the apst to the future. InGen has lead the ways to be superior in all genetic expertise. (Shows scenes of people in labs.) But today, we are proud to present a new innovation from InGen.(Lady appears, in a silver lighted room, going to a model of an lsland.) This is Isla Nublar. It may appear as though it as an island, but it holds something that InGen, marks as the world's largest landmark in genetic experimentation. In the middle of the South Pacific, off the coast of Costa Rica, holds mankind's dreams and our furture. This is Jurassic Park. (Images on the screens show Jurassic Park, and the dinos in it.) This is an extremely great chance you have today. You will be the first to experience Jurassic Park in it's full grandeur. From the Safari, to the HelicopTour, to the River Adventure, and even to the dinosaurs themselves, this a historical landmark for the ages. Know, you're wondering how we made the dinosaurs. We sent researchers to the caves of South America, in search of amber, which somethimes holds a mosquitoe or two, which comes from the Prehistroric times. We drill into the amber, and extract the blood of the mosquitoe. We sequence the DNA, and as a result, have a baby dinosaur. (Shows images of the lab.) With InGen, we can-(image starts to flicker)bring the-(flicker)-past to-(flicker)-the(Flicker, which turns off the presow, and goes a voice saying,
"Incoming Transmission from Jurassic Park Security Division." The image goes to that of Robert Muldoon, the park warden and lead ranger of Jurassic Park.) All incoming Jurassic Park visitors-I warn you-DO NOT PROCEED TO THE ISLAND. There has been security breaches everywhere, the power is out, and we already have casualties!! This park has been for destruction since the beginning. The dinosaurs was a bad idea. This park should have never been built! It poses a threat to people everywhere-(Flicker)-STAY AWAY FROM THE ISLAND!!!!(Flickers again, and goes back to the promotional ad for JP)-Want the best in security, for you, and for your family. Now, join us as InGen proudly presents, JURASSIC PARK!" The presentation ends with the InGen logo, which stays on until you leave. Suddenly, a panicked InGen representative comes bursting into the room: "Lasies and Gentlemen, we are going ahead with your planned tour of Jurassic Park. Don't even think about anything of what that Muldoon guy said! We have checked countless times the security on the isalnd, and I assure you that everything is working. Now, ladies and gentleman, please proceed to your right into the Heliport, as we will start loading you into the helicopter. Thank you for for flying with InGen!", and the woman leaves in an anixous hurry. You proceed to the right, and you are instantly ambushed by large sounds of helicpoters blades swishing through the air, and air traffic controllers being heard on the loudspeaker. "McKennison party, please report to Hangar 9 for departure." "InGen Guests 3, please report to Hangar 5 for immediate departure." You go through the queue for the helicopter, and you are surrunded by helicopter parts and machinery. After 5 minutes, you are escorted aboard the helicopter, and you get your seat belt hooked, and checked. "Please prepare for departure." The doors close. The motors begin to start. Your are on your way. More coming soon!!Hoep you like it!! :animwink:

Looks good, but the whole preshow sounds a bit too like the one for T2:3D. Anyways, I look forward to the next installment! :)

By the way....it's the Express line....;)

Err....I sorght of did get a bit of inspiring from T2: 3D's, but I just twisted a lot of it. Yeah, I forgot that it's "Express"...but that's what happens when you are a Disney fan and you're writing about Universal!!

Part I: Departure

As you put your seat belt on, you hear final boarding calls, and fianl instrcutions. But one of these instructions is one of the most weirdest..."In case of a rapid decline in altitude, please hold on to the bar in front of you. Enjoy your flight." The doors close on your sides. You hear the traffic controller's voices as they clear you for departure. The engine roars. Then, 6 screens, one for each row, turn on above on the ceiling. The guy on the screen looks very much as a computer tech person. "Are we on? Ah! I guess you're here for the helicopter tour!(Somebody goes next to him and tells him something) Oh..your not. Your actually going to the island!! That's actually more splendid than going on this! To tell you the truth, you're riding in a specially designed helicopter, which has an onboard computer system. Essentially, it's a one-of-a-kind system! Just to tell you about the whole spectacle of it, it's simply like this. There's the whole motherboard, and (another guy walks over and talks to him again.)...uh,..ok..well, fine we're going to the tour! Okay everyone! Hold on! You feel a rumble under the seats, and you start to go up. "All right! Let's get this show on the road!" The view screen in front of you shows you are rising above the ground, flying into the clouds, above the sea. "Ah, well, I don't want you guys to get bored, so here's the whole experiences you will find in..Jurassic Park." The tape rolls. It shows the different features at the park, above on the Plasma screen TVs on the ceiling. The viewscreen still shows whats happening outside. It slowly turns from a a beautiful, blue sky, into a dense, dark fog. Suddenly, after 2 minutes, the helicopter starts to buckle, and goes into little drops. The video flickers, and two of the screens go to a altitude/helicopter screen, monitoring everything that happens to the helicopter. The center screen flickers back on, with the guy. "Uhh...well, we hit a bit of turbulence(The helicopter drops significantly)..No No No!! NOW this is a problem!! I am turning control of the helicopter to manual control! I'm going to get you of of here!!!" The heilcopter dips again, this time, dreadfully close to the water. He manages to pull up the helicopter, but swirled the helicopter at the same time. Sparks fly, and smoke comes out through the doors. "Don't worry! We're almost there!" You finally see the island on the main viewscreen, and you go through the canyons, and waterfalls. It's smooth sailing for 6 seconds, until the helicopter drops again, staright down toward a part of park. It hits the ground, sparks fly, and smoke filters through the cabin. And it lays there. Motionless. 'Ah, everyone we are going to attempt a rescue. Do not get out or anything like that! My God, they need help..." The computer screen on the right, suddenly, starts to say, "Warning Communications Blackout in 5..4.." "Do not worry! We will res-" The whole helicopter shuts down. For 15 seconds, you are starnded in the dark, now raining, and nothing is happening. Until you feel footsteps. You hear the footsteps. Something's coming. Pum....Pum....Pum....PUM! Spraks fly, and smoke fills the cabin, as the helicopter is overturned, and a foot starts to squish the passengers. You see from your side, walls from the right are closing in. The walls continue to squish you into one space, but it stops. You flipped right side up, and you see the monstrous T-Rex over you. Suddenly, the power comes online. The helicopter motors start back up. The T-Rex roars. You fly back into the air, and land at a the remote airport next to it. The screens go back to it's own view. "Oh, thank God...I truly thought I was going to mess up on my first manual pilot driving...oh well...Don't leave yet! I have a transmission from Robert Muldoon! Hold on..accssing now..." "Marshall! What the heck are you doing! No helicopters were to come!!!" "I'm sorry, but the boss made me do it." "Very well, then. We could use help-" On the other screen, another man appears. "My name is Brenton Johnson. Your tour will not be terminated. I assure you, even if this message is taped, I assure that all security meanisms are in place, and safety is of the utmost concern, and here at Jurassic Park, I assure that all security personnel are where they are supposed to be." "Johnson!!! I will shut this off..", Muldoon said. "NO!! The tour will go on!! And you have nothing to stop it!!", Johnson says. Immediately, Johnson occupies all the screens. "Do not worry. Everything they say is untrue. Now, join us, as you have a first hand look at the total grandeur, of Jurassic Park." A safety spiel ensues, as you are instructed to get out of the helicopter, an dto proceed to the rafts. "Rafts? Why rafts??", people beside you ask. You don't know either, but as you look outside, you see some electric fences broken. You don't what has happened, but you just wish that this would be over.

It sounds like a good idea but the whole simulator thing sounds very ambitous and would probley be a maitnece nightmare after a while with all of those effects.

Part II: The Unimaginable-I

Now, after the whole helicopter mess, you go down a hallway, but soon, you encounter that you are in a abandoned control center. Everyone is gone, and overhead panels on Plasma TV's above read the status of the island. It reads that all of the paddocks have been penetrated. It's showing, "Attention-All Systems Offline. All Security Personnel, please Proceed to the Loading Dock, and All Animal Paddocks, and Service Stations. Attention All Guests are To Return to the Airport for Departure." You proceed down the hall. It turns out to be a maintenance passage, filled with alert klaxons wailing on and off every 30 seconds, pipes, machinery. Water and steam begin to leak from the pipes. Soem of the electrical outputs cords have been ripped from it's place on the wiring. Sparks occasionly spark everywhere. On the side of the wall, . Then, you hear something that you didn't want to hear. The bridge you are standing on, is in the middle of the pump room. Suddenly, you hear cricking, and cracking from below you. You look toward the wall, and you notice that bridge is actually a catwalk, and a sign says, "Max. Weight: 350 lbs." Of course, you see tons of people on the catwalk with you, buit you assume that it's fine. Suddenly, the floor drops only about 3 inches, in a whole barrage of shrieking metal being bended. Thankfully, some wires under continue to hold the bridge, as the bridge is back where it is supposed to be. The jeep at corner, appears to move dangerously toward the catwalk. It was upside down, being holded by just a couple of ropes, laying on the ground, where the water went through the sides, as water keeps rushing in. Thankfully, by the time you get out of the catwalk, nothing else has happened. You still go down the maintenance hallway, and you discover the rafts you were supposed to go on for your tour. Somehow, all of the rafts has been ripped apart; shredded to pieces. All kinds of black stuff is on the raft, some sorght of dried up liquid. Even one of the rafts has been swept across the river, and landed on the other side, sending a lot of machinery floating into the water, as if the rafts were thrown toward the machinery. You proceed down the hallway, which turns into a staircase. More Plasma TV's are still saying warning for anything that has happened. You finally get to the bottom, and you are directed to a people mover of sorts. CM's tell you that your tour has been transferred from a water tour, to a electric guided tour. You ask, "If the rest of the island doesn't have power, why does this have power??" Even if, you follow the CM's to a loading station, where a jeep is waiting for guests. You board the jeep, and prepare for anything. You buckle your seat belt, you get a fianl check from Control, and you are on your way. "Ok, let's settle some things. Even though we are Control, you must be wondering, if we weren't we you saw what was our Control center, you thought where we were? Well, we off in a remote site acroos the island, where we fianlly got some parts of the electric fence online. But enough of that. Today, you will get a special view of Jurassic Park. You will actually get to see our dinos in action. In an unctrolled enviroment. You will-" "Muldoon to Control! Have you got some of the power back online?" "We have. I'm sending people back on the tour." "Are you crazy? We are still not in full force!" "Oh...well their here. What do you want them to do? They're already past the Visitor's Center." "We could use some help in the electrical power grid. We could use them to get some stuff online. Thing is, we have a time table on our hands. We only have 3 and a half minutes left to bring up the next power grid. But you need to be fast. It's on the other side of the island. You need to get there. Who knows what on the road now that the park is runnign rampant.(A bleeping button on the screen in your car lights up.) Oh no...not this...okay. We need them to get there within 4 mintues, or the whole grid of th island will not start. Get them there, Arnold. Push the accelerator, go faster than you can, whatever means necessary, JUST SAVE THIS ISLAND!!!!!" "Well...you heard him. We're on a mission. Let's get to it."

TO BE CONTINUED..................... :animwink:

Part II-Ride Sequence

Sorry for the delay lately, everyone. I just couldn't go on the computer that much because of all the rain storms down here in Florida. Once again, sorry for the delay. Now here's the rest of the whole story:

After Ray Arnold pushes the accelerator, you go real fast(Guessing, 40 mph, while been thrown around by the landscape). Ray Arnold's voice pops up again, and the screen in the jeep turns on, showing the radar view and projection view of where your car is going. "Ok, where's the power grid.. the power grid...Ah! Here's the place! Ok, I've labeled the place on your map. It's going to be a while, so hold-" The screen flashes out, and the power goes off again. "Attention-Please Remain in the Vehicle. In Any Case of Emergency, please Remain Seated Until a Jurassic Park Ranger Come To Your Safety, and please, whatever you do, DO NOT scream. Thank you." You suddenly see that sparkling wires have been recently cut through, but they are a from a facility that has a dome for a ceiling, and broken glass is all over the road. You start to hear flapping of wings, and birds that are squacking. You wish it was just a bunch of ducks. The squacks keep coming louder toward you. All fo a sudden, the power comes online again, the headlights turn on, and you see a giant pterodactyl in front of the jeep. Ray Arnold comes back. "We're online, now let's get to the-" Giant squack from the pteroactyl in front of you-"Let's get you the heck of there!!" The engine roars, and you speed of the pterodactyl's way. However, the pterodactyl's keep following you. You accelerate even more than the first time, about 50 mph, and finally get away from the pterodactyls, and you stop. But then, you discover you are on the edge of a cliff! The cliff collapses, and fall a 20-ft drop. The fall ends you up in a river, where the tides are really strong, and actually pushes your jeep. You go several rapids, and then you plunge down a 50-ft drop down the river. You get to the edge of the river, but you start to see a tall sail starting to go out of the water. It begins to get even taller than the jeep, and growing more and more as the jeep passes right by it. It begins to rain in little sprinkles, and thunder rumbles in the distance. The full creature, the Spinosaurus rises fully from the river. It growls, as thunder continues to rumble. The Spinosaurus throws the vehicle accross the ater, and rocks it against the edge of the river, which consists of mountains. You vehicle gets a banging, and Spinosaurus rises, roars, and almost snaps your jaws, when, all of a sudden, you fall backwards into a cave that is next to the river, in complete darkness. When you're falling, you hear the Spinosaurus roaring in defeat. You fall down the waterfall in the cave, which is a a 25 ft. drop, and land on another part of the rapids, but it goes into a cave which you see the opening on the outside on the roof of the cave, but you see no exit to the cave, as it is a round cave. Rick Arnold pops in again. "Listen everyone; I suggest you hang on. You went inside a geiser, that according to my readings is going to erupt soon! 3...2...1...HANG ON!!" The steam around you swirls, but it doesn't do anything. "Huh? It's supposed to erupt now??" Suddenly, you shot up at speeds of 20 mph, and you are shot out of the geiser. You land next to the maintenance station where you are suppossed to be. Your jeep speeds up, and goes inside the maintenance bay. The jeep's headlights show that some of the power output stations, but soemhow, they have been ripped, shredded, and torn apart, by vicous raptors, which are controlling the power in the power stations. "Oh, no..This shouldn't happen!!" The jeep swerves to avoid the raptors, and finally, you reach a power station that you can get to. Suddenly, you hear buckling, and swerving of metal, and drop just 10 ft. into a chamber full of power terminals, and Rick Arnold finally gets the grid up and running. "Finally! Well, your tour of duty is done. Thanks for helping us. Your helicopters are now ready to receive you again at-" "Arnold!! Thank God you put the power grid back on! I think I'm the one that needs help now! Can you report to the Security Compound? But be careful! There tons of dliophosaurus around here!! Muldoon out!!" "Ok, you heard him. We're heading to the Security Compound. All we have to do, is-" Suddenly, a T-Rex pops out from the broken pipes in the ceiling, and you drop 20 ft. You fall toward the river, anf the river rapids control you toward the main land. You finally get to the Security CDompound, when you are met by a group of dilophasaurs. They thorw spit at you, and since their their spit is acid, it burns the brakes off of your jeep, and you skid along the road inside the warehouse of the Security Compound. A chain link grabs your boat, and you head up to the unload level. While getting to the unload station, you are given reports of everything that is happening on the island. You see that the island needs just one more power grid to set everything right. You go up 10 stories using the chainlink, and you take off your seatbelt, and you are directed to exit to the left, for the last mission that awaits you, that lies between survival and extinction.

Man this is one crazy ride. Its sounds amazing, but it seems like it would take along time to go on, and alot of effort. The story is great, but the only sugestion I would make would be, to somehow make the 3 parts into one. Im excited to see how it all ends up. Great job!!!:D :sohappy:

OMG!!! :hammer: I totally forgot about this thread and the idea!!! I'm am sooo sorry for the delay.

stitch001- The whole ride would take into 3 parts. However, if there are people who only like one part of the ride, then they can skip one part using a special entrance. Otherwise, if you want the full storyline, you have to go in the order that they are in.

Thsi afternoon I will write the next and final part, as I have some homework to do. :lookaroun

Skimmed the script so far, seems pretty good.

I am a visual person, might be nice if you could draw up some diagrams of certain parts.....

Also I am a little curious to how you were planning on pulling off some of these effects, particularly the geyser part. Also these "drops" are these supposed to be free-fall drops, dropping straight down, or rolling down an incline?

There are some problems with that, as I don't have a scanner if I were to manually draw it, and I can't draw with the Paint program(Unless someone wants to teach me! :animwink: ) Alright, here's the lowdown on the special effects:

As you read, there are numerous drops. The first drop is I wrote, wasthat a ride vehicle goes on a roller coaster track, which curves right next to the sign, as it dips into the fog.(Imagine Dueling Dragons at IOA. You look at the dragons at the entrance, and sometimes you see the roller coaster go even right above your head in the queue line. It will be the same deal, but next to you, and behind the sign.

The next drop happens when the helicopter drops. Since this part of the ride is based on a motion simulator, it just is a sensation of dropping. However, I was just thinking most probably it could be a real drop, but only to the floor under the loading platform.

For the 3rd drop, which happens when you go down the cliffinto the river, you go down the 20-ft. drop going dropping down forward. Once you get into the river, the only thing that is holding you, is a magnetic strip below the water, which is holding you from going offcourse. In order to make sure this scene works, the load station weighs you and calculates how fast and how the strong will take you. The heavier, the more stronger. The less people, the less force. However, the magnetism from the strip below the water, increases, as oyu do not see as oyu are spinning while this happens, you are actually going up some hills, preparing you for the free-fall, 50. ft drop. Once that happens, the river goes a standstill as you cruise along, until the Spino comes out of the water, and attacks you. Once it attacks you, you follow the magnetic strip, which is pulling to a dark cave, and once you are inside the cave, in the middle of the dark, you drop backwards down another 40 ft. The way to go back, was the geiser. You land to the geiser, and it pushes you up, back into a hill, and back into the river. How does this happen? Answer: Air pressure. The base of the geiser is literally a giant elevator, which it's energy is presureized air. That's why it will go up fast, but also allowing fast and strong G-forces. Once you get to the power station, the several drops are just regular elevator drops. Once you get to the Security Compound, and go up the chain link to the unload station, you see that your car might have taken on some water. But I have thought of a way to prevent flooding in the car over the course of the day. Under the cars, there are slits under the seats, and at the bottom of the floor, as a way of no water getting in. Whew! That was long! I hope you liked it, and it gives some explanation as to what is going on.

I followed everything except the magnetic strip part, I am still unclear as to how you are driving the the car at this point, by magnetic propulsion?, Self propulsion guided by the magnetic strip?, or something else.....

I am also not sure if your weight calculations need to be done in the first place, the amount of mass a rider would put on the car is seemingly insignificant to the total weight of the car, plus that is what designers use factors of safety for anyways.

I followed all of your other explanations although it sounds like a sensors nightmare to have to be switching tracks all the time, but I am sure given enough thought there would be ways to lessen the situation.

I am also wondering given all these inclines and their heights if you are thinking to the amount of space or force needed to break each of these vehicles. Given mgh =1/2mv^2, thus v = sqroot(2gh). Knowing that and that momentum is mv and that the summation of F = 0, thus one could infer that F =- mv, where F is your breaking force. Granted you also need to factor the incline of the drop in there, but then we have to start using cosines, anyways using the above said formulas this might give you a decent idea of how hard you would have to be breaking the car, cause I thought I saw alot of 40/50 ft drops and given the mass of this vehicle form what you have described it seems like it would be really moving.

Exactly. The propulsion is by a magnetic strip, which guides the vehicle(almost the same system used for Dinosaur at AK and Indy Jones Adventure at DL). Now, I need to tell you something: With the whole scientic formula thing, can you explain that? I'm in 8th Grade, and the only thing we have done close to that, is Speed, Accerleration, Mass, Density, Centrifical Force, Velocity, and all that other basic stuff, but I haven't learned the stuff you mentioned yet.

Gladly, although I realized my self that I forgot to consider the fact that the car would be moving before hand.

Anyways still ignoring that, lets just look at how much your speed will increase only as a result of drooping from one height to another. Once again we are ignoring the slope of the drop, but that just makes things stickier and I was just trying to get you an estimate

First we start with the principle that Energy is conserved. The amount of potential energy before the drop (energy stored in the car) must be equal to the kinetic energy (energy expelled when moving) it has at the bottom of the hill.

This relationship can be shown through an equation by 1/2mv^2=mgh if you solve this equation for v (the velocity) you get v=squareroot(2gh).

g is the acceleration due to gravity 32 ft/s^2
h is the height the car drops

so say the car drops from 20 ft, then at the bottom of the hill the car has is now moving 35.78 ft/s faster than it was before. Converting to mph that means that the car is now moving 24.4 mph faster than it was before. This though is if the car drooped straight down, as we did not compensate for slope. a less steep slope would slow it down a little.

Then momentum can be described as mass * velocity, and we know that the sum of all forces in a closed loop system is equal to zero. Also we know F=ma , lets assume the car is not accelerating. Thus F + mv = 0

Then the breaking force would be equal to 35.78 more times the mass of the car (using the english system). So if this is a 400 lb vehicle then you need a 14,312 lb force to stop it dead on. I believe you have something like this happening in your geyser.

Now this doesn't mean that you can't do that, you just need to be able to gradually slow it down or give it more space, but it seemed like from what I read it went down this drop directly into your elevator platform.

Really though a great tool, is to get Ultimate Ride from Disney software and this program will do all sorts of calculations like this for you.
