Jungle Cruise

I have been looking at wait times and Genie+ availability and have noticed that Jungle Cruise seems to have become one of the most popular rides in the park. I never remember it being that hard to get on it in the past. What has lead to this increase? Is it really more popular now, or is this some sort of side effect of the way Genie+ works?

It was getting busy even before Genie. The rework also seemed to generate a lot of interest.

There is also just the lack of Genie+ inventory that pushes people to take whatever they can.

I seem to remember Jungle Cruise always sporting long waits. I think it's probably a slow loading ride, which contributes to the long wait, rather than basic popularity.

We normally go left so I tend to hit it first thing in the morning so may have never noticed.

When park crowds start to get heavier and other attractions draw riders, producing long lines, the overflow of guests looking for an alternate attraction to ride, starts to filter through other things. JC has always been able to draw guests in but now its getting more riders that filter in on their way around that side of the park.

I was asking my DH what the big draw of JC was and why the long waits just the other day. I told him I'm happy to skip despite the fact that my youngest DS loves "dad-jokes" and puns and totally gets the JC. Totally forgot about the new thumbing and the recent moving. Still not waiting in that long line and I'm not willing to throw $ at Genie+

I enjoy Jungle Cruise but it's not a must do for me. I would be more disappointed to miss Pirates of Haunted Mansion.

There was also a movie that came out last year starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt that might have spiked interest.

I'd say this more than anything else has created more interest in the ride.

The general public is unlikely to know about the changes, or what exactly has been changed, but anyone with a TV, local movie theater or Disney+ subscription would have heard about the blockbuster movie released less than a year ago.

Maybe for those who've never ridden JC, they're expecting some white-water thrills like in the movie? 🤔

I'm under the impression JC has a fairly average throughput( for a signature ride anyway) of around 1700 guests per hour. It's not low like Splash mountain nor high like Haunted Mansion and Small World

I would say, for me, I remember it being pretty much an easy almost "jump right on" ride in the 1990s. Did it load better back then? I don't know. Not sure why. Pretty much the one section that hasn't changed much is Adventureland. In 1991, my first trip, it had the Tiki Birds, Pirates and Jungle Cruise. Only Aladdin's Magic Carpets has been added since. So I don't know what has drawn more people over there.

But in 2018 I can remember being shocked at how long the line and wait was for it, as my previous memories of it were being a rather short line.

The lines predate the pandemic. If I had to guess the introduction of fast pass had a negative affect on the standby lines.
