July in WDW....

We have just booked 2 weeks at the Poly in July 2022. I was wondering if July gets the same humidity and heavy thunderstorms each afternoon that we have experienced at the end of August which is when we usually go?

I'd be grateful if anyone has any tips for dealing/preparing for the heavier crowds in July? :)

Yes, expect high temps in the mid 90s every day with high humidity. It’s pretty oppressive! Thunderstorms roll through almost daily as well.

We’ve done July a number of times and still enjoy it, though! Get up early and enjoy the parks from open until after noon. Leave after lunch to avoid the biggest lines, highest heat, and likely thunderstorms (or leave to go have lunch elsewhere is our usual plan). Then back in the parks after 5pm when many families are heading out.

We are big on high energy/impact touring for 4ish hours, then lunch/nap/pool for 3-4 hours, and then dinner/low energy touring for 4ish hours.

Have a great time planning!!

Personally I won't go in July again.

I went in July 2014 and July 2019.
I've been in late August 7 soon to be 8 times.
Both times I went in July it rained heavily on and off all day every day.
Both times I saw on the news that the area had as much rain in the first two weeks as the average for the entire month.
Each time I've gone in late August its been the typical daily afternoon thunderstorm that you could easily plan around.
In July 2019 there was one day that I had a poncho on practically the entire day.

Yep. August is the height of summer so is slightly worse. Just dress light and carry a poncho with you that you can put on at a moment's notice. You'll save money by buying them off-site. But not to worry if you forget -- in a thunderstorm, every WDW shop will roll them out front and center for you to pony up $$ for a poncho.

Ditto…this is exactly how we do summer trips! A break in the afternoon is essential when it’s that HOT and it gets HOT!!! Pool time and snacks is our favorite way to cool off and recharge for the evening.

I also make sure everyone packs a morning outfit and an evening outfit. Also pack a second pair of tennis shoes and sandals so you’re not putting sweaty clothes or possibly rain soaked shoes back on.

Crocs or some sort of waterproof sandal (my favorite are TEVA’s) are a must with summer rain showers that roll through.

I just got back on Thursday and yes there were storms, high humidity, and it was HOT. If you love the heat like me, then it’s great, just take a mid day break during the storms to shop or relax :)
