July 17th: Televised Event?

Don't know, but I doubt it. May 5 was the big party day (dumb idea, in my opinion). Yeah, 50/50/50 is cool, but I'd assume the televised events are done.

You would think that ABC or even the Disney Channel could televise the events. Disney channel would rather play some reruns of dumb shows though.

They'd better televise this live on ABC. I would LOVE to watch this historical event. I guess Disney Channel won't though. I'm sure they know that people wouldn't be interested in DL's 50th anniversary, and people would much rather watch Phil of the Future and Brandy and Mr. Wiskers.

I just checked the Disney Channel Web Site and ABC. Neither of them had anythinglisted for today. When I first read this thread it did not bother me but now it just seems a bit hollow as Disneyland is such a big part of everything Disney, it should have been reflected somewhere.

I may check the Travel Channel, though I am sure I checked it before and they were the same Disney shows they have been running for a while.

Take care,
Greg

O.K. I just posted this in WDW News And Rumors (the "Happy Birthday Disneyland" thread). But it is even more appropriate here:

My only question is: Where is "Wonderful World" or even the (so-called) Disney Channel???????

This place opened on television, and television really gave it the national exposure that it needed. Yet today, both ABC and the Disney Channel are running regular programming, and repeats at that. And the so-called "Wonderful World of Disney" (without a host and much continuity) last night ran three hours of "Princess Diaries."

Disney worked a unique TV deal in 1955 (with ABC) to be the first major studio to open their best work to TV, in exchange for the deposit needed to start Disneyland itself. And it opened live on the "Disneyland" TV program ... which became the "Wonderful World of Disney."

There is NO EXCUSE at all today, when they even own the network, not to have "Wonderful World" broadcasting live from Disneyland, with a major special tonight, just as they did 50 years ago today. NO EXCUSE that they are showing re-runs instead. And especially NO EXCUSE for non-Disneyland related stuff today on The Disney Channel, when they could show a marathon of Disneyland related shows..... NO EXCUSE.

(Any idea what I think about the subject??) :lookaroun

They're not showing it?!?!?!?!?!? Those idiots!!! I wanted to experience to see this thing live, and they're not even bothering? Get me a revolver, I'm heading down to the disney television studios.....

I just can't believe it... I am extremely dissapointed. :(

Stupid TV people... Not celebrating the most important day in a GLOBAL celebration of Disneyland.

I know. It just makes no sense whatsoever. They even own the network (ABC) that showed it live on opening day....

Sigh.
