Why has this not been made?

JP 4 has been green lit. I love the JP franchise and I think it's a pretty popular (reasonably) family friendly.

What are the chances of getting a JP expansion too?

This would undoubtedly be amazing. And after demolishing another Spielberg-based attraction (JAWS), it would be a nice band-aid on the wound.

Let's face it, something like Dinosaur (at Animal Kingdom) would have been a more appropriate Jurassic Park themed ride rather than where it is now. Simulators are fun, but nothing beats real life action, which is why I think Spider-Man and Harry Potter are so successful - they're not just simulators, they have elaborate and interactive set elements.

It's like watching a concert on TV, versus being at the concert, in the arena. Big difference.

Can't help but feel like they've taken Jurassic Park as far as they can take it in IOA. Having a boat ride in which something goes wrong and you get attacked by dinosaurs and a jeep ride in which something goes wrong and you get attacked by dinosaurs seems a bit redundant. I think Universal feels this way, too -- I do believe the plot of land initially meant for the jeep ride was taken over by Hogwarts, instead.

Jurassic Park 4 was greenlit back in the Cretacious Period. If it ever gets released, I'll take it as a sign of the coming apocalypse.

A jeep ride was one of two major JP attractions that got axed during the park's design phase. The other was the Helicoptours. While the idea has potential, I think Dinosaur's existence is a major problem. It might be too similar. I would HOPE that JP gets a new attraction if by some miracle another film is released, but I wouldn't say it's a given, even if there is a place for it (next to Ripsaw Falls.)

If the movie does get released, it probably wont be until 2018 or up. As far as the jeep ride, the only reason it wasn't constructed was due to the massive amount of cash they would have to cough up for the technology and amount of land that would have to be cleared.

Budget probably played a role in the ride never coming to fruition. Land wasn't an issue - the park hadn't been built yet, and the designated spot sat empty until Forbidden Journey.

It's sad that some people upstairs actually thought to prioritize the original attractions/shows the way that they did. Sigh.

I would like to have seen the first Potter expansion take over Sinbad and Poseidon right away (which it subsequently will). Sigh.

The majority of Disney fans don't seem to care much for Dinosaur at Animal Kingdom. Can't Disney just 'donate' it to Universal and then replace it with something more in-line with whatever Disney fans think ought to be there? :p

Universal could then re-dress it with the appropriate JP theme, and so on...

Heck, I'd even take a JP omni-mover ride over the boat tour. :hammer:

I love the JP section as much as the next guy, but its physical location limits it to any sort of expansion. Its right next to wizarding world, so any spare room in THAT direction is as good as reserved. Remember, US/IOA have very limited room to work compared to that of competing parks. I feel the water ride was an awesome idea (even tho IOA has 2 other water rides in the same park), and its "footprint" is considerably smaller than..say..that of a roller coaster or jeep ride. (Tho a coaster WAS originally pitched, but nixed)

Not really. As I mentioned previously, there's a sizable expansion pad next to Ripsaw Falls. They could also do something with the Trike Encounter land, since they apparently have no intention of keeping that open full time. It's just a waste as is.

There will be dinosaurs. (Rumored)

On a more serious note, Stan Winston was working on it right before he passed ( :( ) . That was really the last update I heard about any real progress being made on its production..and that was a while ago.

i don't know about everyone else here, but i think recreating the t-rex in san franciso or san diego (forgot where it was) would be awesome. the queue could be really awesome with you seeing video footage of the carnage the t-rex is creating. and the ride car could have an AA baby t-rex making noises that bring the big mama to you and you're rushing to bring it back to that big ______ boat. it could be exciting and be a ride experience that resembles indiana jones in DL or spider man... i think a mix of live and video elements would suit it best. just something that popped into my head.

it would be different that trying to escape from scary dinosaurs. you're actually trying to get it to chase you.

my bad i didnt think i'd be censored for the 'a' word (makes sense considering the board i'm at) big ole' boat

JP at IOA is based on the Jurassic Park books & films, but it isn't trying to recreate them. That's not the idea. In fact, it actually ignores the events of the first film and pretends the park opened to the public. And this specific scene is definitely out of the question anyway, as there's no believable way of traveling from the park to San Diego and then back to the park in the matter of a few minutes.

you're right... maybe have a ride involving raptors. i think they are really underused in the river adventure (although creating believable AA for them would probably be difficult). suppose there be a ride where the guest would be treated as employees who are new to jurassic park and then a diff employee gets trapped in the raptor's reserve. then be taken on a rescue mission to recover said employee. going through an area of tall grass could make it easier to make it appear as if raptors are closing in on you or something. something along those lines of using sets and 3d film to create the experience. there's still potential to make a very cool ride with JP theming.

Ok... so i did some searching on google earth and saw there was a dudley doo expansion plot but i believe it could be the sizw of a MIB set in Jurassic but beyond that there is not much they can do with ( unless they wanted dueling dinosaur spinners :lookaroun)
