I had this idea back in 2020 but it never went anywhere beyond the layout. I was recently asked to finish it so here's the full version.
Taking our seats in the former clams, now resembling rowboat, we take off from port and sail down river into New Orleans. The first thing we come across are Louie and Tiana (where Scuttle currently is) explaining that this story requires us to leave N.O and head into the Bayou.
Overhead, an instrumental of Down in New Orleans plays but gets fainter and fainter as we make our descent down a small dip in the stream (Green), leaving the streets of NO behind and up ahead we see that we're approaching a marshy swamp. This is indeed the Bayou.
The first thing we come across are several critters of the Bayou (possums, gators, raccoons, ect..) whispering excitedly about the Mardi Gras celebration coming up (pink). Although the scene is indeed cheerful and bright, we can see a faint purple glow in the background. What could this mean?!
Before we can focus on that, we go under a curtain of cypress leaves and find the entire swamp celebrating Mardi Gras (Orange). Various critters engage in celebration, Louie searches the scene for his trumpet, which he can't join the band without. Tiana and Naveen dance together. Overhead, the ceiling is obscured not only by the trees around us, but by hundreds of glowing fireflies singing Goin' Down the Bayou.
However, that purple glow from earlier is just at the edge of the swamp, getting brighter and brighter. Right as we pass into it, everything goes wrong. The entire swamp is now lit green and purple. Thunder crashes! Lightning flashes. The trees now have evil faces. Oh man are we in trouble now!
Standing in the middle of all this, laughing with glee, is none other than Dr. Facillier himself, who can disappear and reappear using Hatbox Ghost tech. Around us, the masks from the movie return and sing Friends on the Other Side.
Barely making it out of the storm, we find ourselves in the middle of a magic battle between Mama Odie and Dr. Facillier (dark blue-teal). Lights flash as the two battle it out. However, Mama is able to out wit the Shadow man and banishes him.
Everything is alright once again as we leave the swamp and begin our return to the city. The first thing we see is Louie, now reunited with his trumpet, playing happily with a Dixieland quartet. What are they playing? An instrumental of Dig a Little Deeper of course.
Coming into the finale, we find the Mardi Gras celebration has grown and now everyone, human and animal, are having the best Mardi Gras ever. Tiana and Naveen even share their First Kiss.
As the cheerful tune fades away, we return to the Port we took off from .
