Journey from Highway 4 to the rope drop at Magic Kingdom

Hi, first post here.

I have been planning a one day visit to the Magic Kingdom for my 3 year old, while visiting family in Tampa. While I can easily plan the distance and drive time to the world's entrance (say. . . Exit 62), I am unsure how early I should leave to negotiate parking, trams, monorails, etc. to make it the opening ceremony at 8:50 am.

I have always stayed onsite in the past, directly transported from the airport, so I have no direct experience with this.

If anyone can help me, thanks in advance!

I am sure this is all done for you but we do the ST Pete to WDW trip almost every year. To hit WDW property it takes 1 -1.5 hours. I drive fast. Give yourself at least 2- 2.5 hours to negotiate the entire trip.
