Man what a great night All Star Saturday Night was tonight. The Dunk Contest is back in full form! Josh Smith and Amare Stoudemire had a heck of a battle for the title, but Smith's dunks were unbelieveable tonight. He got excellent air time and the nod to the Human Highlight Film was an excellent throw back. If any of you guys missed the great dunks Smith and Amare did tonight, make sure to catch SportsCenter tonight/tomorrow. You just can't describe some of those dunks and do them justice.

This is a pic of Smith's best dunk of the night:

If Amare had gotten some of this dunks in on the first try he could have won. I am just so excited to see the excitement back in this contest. Sure the past few years have had some great dunks (Richardson and Jones were great), but the creativity was back this year.

Josh Smith is DEFINATELY a household name after tonight's performance. It was as good as we've seen since the Wilkins/Jordan era.

Ohhhh I'm sorry there was an NBA Dunk Contest this year? Once LeBron said he was not going to participate that event lost my interest. I mean I am an avid follower of NBA Basketball and I had no idea who Josh Smith even was before today! Probably because he plays for the Atlanta Hawks!

Well here's my prediction for the All Star Game today:

-East: 123 West:119

-LeBron James wins the All Star MVP (Take that Carmelo)

BTW: Where's Carmelo:lol: ! Not even making the All Star team in his hometown? I think Carmelo Anthony is the most over-rated, over hyped basketball player in the history of the NBA!!! Once opponents realized that he can't shoot to save his life from the outside...... teams started to finally realize that he is definately not nearly as good as they say he is!!

Smith is a rookie straight out of high school. He was a 1st round pick for the Hawks this year.

And after seeing Smith dunk last night, I can see why LeBron didn't want to compete. He had no chance of beating him.

NO CHANCE OF BEATING HIM? LEBRON HAS NO CHANCE OF BEATING JOSH SMITH????!!!! ok i think i'm ok now.... no wait...!!! That had to be the worst dunk champion i have ever seen!! Trust me if LeBron was healthy enough to compete he would of had no problem with taking care of...... what's his name again? oh yeah: Josh Smith!!!

That has to be the most rediculous thing I have ever heard!!! I hope you were being sarcastic or something because..... God! I can't stop laughing about that!!

So............thats why you were saying LeBron didn't compete..... because he knew Josh Smith would beat him??:lol:You have obviously never seen LeBron play before...... every game he has a dunk that is more amazing than the next! For example, if we go all the way back to November when the Cavaliers were taking on the Bobcats LeBron had a dunk where his elbow was approximately 6" above the rim!! And this is the guy who can't beat Josh Smith in a dunk contest?!!!

THANKS I NEEDED A GOOD LAUGH!!! I WAS HAVING A ROUGH DAY SO FAR....

It's pretty obvious you didn't watch the contest last night. Smith had a perfect 50 in the 2nd round. It's hard to get better than that. LeBron isn't as good of a dunker as Smith is, plain and simple. LeBron is more of a drive and slash player anyways.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, because it was the truth. That's why the stars aren't competing anymore. They aren't as good as the pure dunkers and they know they won't win.

You should have watched the contest last night. Smith and Amare put on a heck of a show.

I think you sometimes take your obsession of LeBron a little too far. He's an excellent player and he might be the best in the league right now, but he's not the best at everything. I believe you would take LeBron against the Patriots in the Super Bowl....by himself

Ok.... I just emailed your response to a sportstalk radio station in Cleveland... Lets see what they have to say about that!!! LEBRON ISN'T AS GOOD OF A DUNKER AS SMITH IS????? Dude COME ON!!! I think I will now personally start a poll on this site to shut you up!! To say that is absolutely rediculous!! Yeah.... LeBron is more of a slash and drive player..... and he finished it off with show stopping dunks!!

How could you say it is the truth? That is your opinion!! Until LeBron and what's his name again goes head to head next year in the dunk contest you can not say that! And trust me..... LeBron will not lose!!!

Oh...... I shoulda wasted my time and watched that dunk contest.... I don't think so!!! Lets see here I had two things I coulda done last night: Go to this friggin awesome party or watch the dunk contest! I think I chose wisely!! And I watched Sportscenter this morning so its not like I missed anything!

So.......Smith got a perfect 50 in the second round??? Well what did he get in the first round?? As far as i'm concerned I could care less about Josh Smith!

I wouldn't take LeBron against all the Patriots but.......... just a little FYI for you: In high school LeBron was a first team all state wide receiver his freshman through Junior year! And he chose not to play his Senior season! So I think LeBron might actually be good at things other than basketball!!

Well at least they won't have a biased response

I hope you enjoyed "your friggin awesome party". I guarantee it wasn't better than the festivities last night.

I think they'll all put on a great show for us. Of course I'd like to see Grant Hill win the MVP. But I'm predicting a Garnett MVP, which will of course be rigged.

It will be interesting to see how the greatest human being on the face of this earth does tonight.

With Shaq as the starting Center, James will either do great or blame Shaq for his mistakes.

Shaq will definately help clog the paint and will hopefully allow for some great around the rim moves.

 ! Why would LeBron blame Shaq or anyone for that matter? LeBron isn't a selfish player (like Allen Iverson) he doesn't blame others for his downfalls. For example, when the Cavs didn't make the playoffs last year he took the blame upon himself, when clearly it was his supporting cast (or lack there of)!

LeBron is not that type of person! He actually has class and wouldn't bash another player regardless of whose fault it was. In my three years of watching LeBron I have never witnessed him do anything out of selfishness, on or off the basketball court.

WHOA. COMPLETELY disagree with that one. Having seen LeBron on numerous occasions, he would have kicked this "Smith's" caboose every which WAY but loose.

Well hopefully he can prove it next year. Smith is the dunker to beat for at least a few more years. Last night was a heck of a show. I don't know if LeBron is flashy enough to beat him or not. Remember that's what the contest is all about.

I hate that the links to the videos seem to be down right now. Hopefully they will be back up soon.

about the 3 videos

 the first dunk was brilliant!!!:sohappy: he had a really high jump to get over the other player sitting down on the chair which layed him up for that incredible alley-oop!!!

the second dunk was great!!!:king: this was sick when he had that really good lay-up and dribbled the ball behind his back then brought it around and slammed it into the net!!!

the third dunk was out of this world!!! :) it was amazing the way it was all layed up with the throw to the backboard then bounced off and the other player headed it and while he did the other player layed up, caught the basketball and finished it with a slam dunk into the net!!!

now these dunks have made my day complete!!!
