Johnny Depp at POC grand re-opening?

A co-worker of mine told me that Johnny Depp is going to be in WDW for the grand re-opening of POC. I'm not sure where she heard this. I've neither seen nor heard about this anywhere else. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I doubt it, if anything, he'll be at the one in Disneyland to be at the movie's premiere

Probably will, but it wouldnt suprise me a bit if he was not. I read somewhere where he did the Pirates movie and portrayed Sparrow the way he did to sort of snub Disney because he did not care for the family orientation of the company. Suprising enough, the character was loved by the company and fans alike.

Don't get me wrong... I love him as a pirate also... but I wouldn't be surprised at all if that were true.

Oh, I love the way he played the character too, and I think it was a major contributor to the popularity of the movie.

Disney HATED the way he portrayed that character. They threatened to fire him during the first week of shooting and he told them to go ahead and do it if they felt they had to. They didn't, and when the public embraced him at the box office, it was THEN and ONLY THEN that Disney called to congratulate him. That comes straight from the mouth of Mr. Depp himself.

Johnny Depp and the rest of the PoTC 2 Cast wil most likely be at the Disneyland Resort for the movie premiere, one weekend in June. The monday after that weekend, the ride re-opens in DLR. Walt Disney World's PotC will re-open on July 7, (same day as the movie OFFICIALLY opens).

After the release of the first POTC Jonny Depp and his son sat on our pargo and hung out with us for a few mins in front of the ODF garage in the MO-7 parking lot.

It was kinda funny because one of our managers didn't notice at first it was Jonny Depp and thought some guest had wondered backstage, he began to walk over to say something and then noticed the VIP tour guide was still in the van across the parking lot and then of coarse noticed it was Jonny...he felt pretty stupid.

The neat thing about the ODF garage is its in the MO-7 parking lot and thats where all the VIP vans park, we have quite a list of celebs we have seen and talked to.

I'd love to meet Johnny Depp one of these days..

Every studio likes it when things turn out to be popular and successful, even things that were initially frowned upon by the studio brass. This is not unique to Disney. That being said, Johnny Depp has a history of bringing his own eccentric twists to all of his roles, and this was not something done to single out or intentionally hurt Disney. Mr. Depp has a family and children and has visited WDW, Disneyland, and Disneyland Paris on numerous occasions. If a popular star does not agree with the "family orientation" (whatever that means *) of a particular studio, the best way for said popular star to snub that studio is not to work for them at all, not sign a three-picture deal.

*If family orientation refers to the messages the company puts out regarding families I can't think of a company that is more accepting, diverse, and positive in its portrayal/definition of the word "Family".

Also, while he will be at Disneyland for the premiere of Dead Man's Chest, he is not scheduled to be at WDW (nor is any "grand re-opening scheduled for the WDW version of the attraction. At this time, Pirates is set to re-open the same way It's a Small World re-opened after its year-long enhancement recently: by taking down construction walls the night before and opening its doors at 9am) There will be a meet-and-greet/streetmosphere act involving a Jack Sparrow look-alike for the busy summer season, though.
