JOb Cuts

The county I work for is cuttting cost and one of the ways is through the FD. My Captain told me yesterday in a kind beat around the bush type of way that come DEC 1 I may no longer be employed because of the cuts Seven years and out the door:shrug:. If this does happen it may force me to back out of the trip next year which would suck. Its like Merry Christmas you are unemployeed have fun finding a job and the disney trip is posibly cancelled.

I'm sorry as well and best of luck.

I have been doing the job search recently for similar reasons, and this is just a tought time to be looking.

Hope you can still get the Disney trip in as it would at least be a way to cusion the blow.

You are not alone. The same situation is playing out everywhere. Over the last three years the company I work for has closed down entire divisions, consolidated the reaming ones, and cut hours and pay across the board and it is one of the more fortunates businesses in the field. All you can do is start preparing. Look for a comparable job somewhere else or you might have to consider starting over in another career. All you can do is keep your chin up and learn from the experience. After this recession has passed, as all recessions do, strive to emerge better, smarter and wiser.

Welcome aboard the boat. I'm in it with ya. Haven't lost my job yet, but my company is being merged with another. At least I will get a great severance package out of it though so I'm not sweating yet. Hope it work out for you.

I am sorry to hear that!!!! Keep the head up and I am sure things will turn around.

I'm going to sound like Tony Robbins here, but dont give up hope!!! The country is a mess right now. And I am sorry to say this, but the media is really not helping at all. I no longer watch half the media stories because all it does is say, don't spend, don't do anything. No wonder why everything is closing. They have everyone living in fear. Fear causes us not to spend, we dont spend, things close their doors, and if they close their doors, people are out of jobs. It is a terrible circle.

Sorry, just rambling. I say everyone just move to Iowa. Business isn't great here, but seems to be doing better then alot of the country!!!!!

It's funny that you said "move to Iowa"! I was just thinking that this morning. I live in NJ now, but grew up in Iowa and miss it terribly. My husband is unhappy in his job here and the cost of living is absolutely ridiculous. I want to go back to Ames!!! The only advantage I can see to NJ is it's just one flight to WDW!
