I am currently planning A wdw vaction with my girlfriend in October.....we are looking at staying at one of the moderate resorts...anyway I would like to stop by The Animal Kingdom lodge...as I have yet to see this resort...my plan is to go the day we visit the AK park...But I was wondering which is the better place for dinner...I have read many rave reviews on Jiko all across the internet...it's seems to be one of the most well recieved restauraunts on disney property...I would love to check it out...I just worried that maybe my gf does not have such adventurous tastes...in which case maybe Boma may be better...I am having a tough time deciding this one...just looking for other opinions who may have ate at either of these.

 So anyway

If you're looking for a real girls opinion, go for Boma -

Your g/f will be able to look everything over and decide what she'd like to sample with no pressure.

Good luck to you both! :)

Meega, nala kwishta!
While I love Boma to death for breakfast, Jiko is by far a better choice for dinner.

We tried dinner for the first time last year, and while it's better than 80% of the places you could choose around Disney, it's not Jiko.

Take a look at the menues for Jiko and Boma and you dicide. It's the choice between a normal "sit down" dinner at Jiko versus a buffett dinner at Boma may be a factor for the two of you as well. But personally I liked Jiko a tad bit better, but then again it's rated as one of the top places to eat at WDW.

Either way, eat up and have fun! :slurp:

It also depends on your mood and your budget.

We prefer BOMA, for it'smany selections on the buffet. We can take as much or as little of anything we want and are sure to be full, at a reasonable price. Also, the Cast Members describing exactly what is in everything has encouraged us to try new stuff without having to buy a whole dinner of it.

JIKO is nice, but we just couldn't seem to find anything that we really wanted on the menu the night we went. Knowing the buffet was across the hall was distracting!
The dinner was good, but more expensive and not enough for us.

Either way, the food is excellent, the environment is great, and you will have a good time.

ENJOY!

Jiko is a better restuarant and the menu is not really that "adventurous", so with a little effort, you should be able to find something you like which will be wonderful.

Jiko will also be a more relaxing and intimate meal. Boma is a very popular buffet, so as a result it is usually crowded, somewhat loud and there is always a lot of activity with people constantly going back and forth from tables to the buffet areas. Jiko, meanwhile, is a quieter, sit down restaurant, which is usually not as crowded as Boma.

We prefer Jiko, but you can't go wrong with either one.

I wouldnt characterize my wife as an adventurous eater and she really enjoyed Jiko. It's a great meal and I'd highly recommend it. We only ate breakfast at Boma but it was excellent none the less. If you're still looking for a nice, more upscale meal to take your gf to there are plenty of other options on property.

Thank you for all your replies...I am leaning towards Boma right now....That way she can just take a nibble and if she doesn't care for something...she can move on to other food.

Besides we do have our more intimate restaraunt planned...we are Planning on The Coral Reef at The Living Seas

Thanks none the less for your opinions..:)

Oooooooooh. Hard one. I would have to say, Jiko. No, Boma. Wait!! Jiko. No, Boma. Hmmmm......how about Boma for dinner and Jiko for coffee and dessert. Then you can call it Boko. Please do not be scared off of Jiko because you think the menu might be too eclectic. My friend is your basic meat and potato kind of gal and she told me she had the best steak there that just melted in her mouth. To be honest, I would go there first before going to The Coral Reef.

Well...Personally I would rather check out Jiko then the coral reef as well...but my girlfriend made it very clear she would like to find a good seafood restaraunt..I'm orginally from Florida and have been raised on Disney...she has never set foot in the state...I think she is confused that going to Disney is like seeing Florida...when disney World has a magic of it's own...at any rate being that she is a 1st timer I want to make her trip as enjoyable as possible...so if she wants sea food...of course that was the 1st place I thought of...but I am open to other ideas..:)

I agree, Flying Fish is great. and if you go for dinner, stick around at night, they do games and have entertainers at the boardwalk. way to much fun. :)
