Jedi training?

I'm trying to get a handle on what this entails. If we get to the park early, do we sign up for an adult and kid to do it together? Or does the child do it while the adult watches? How long is the training? Is it next to impossible to get a spot? My 8 year old daughter would love to participate--the rest of my family, not so much, so I'm trying to figure out the best way to make it work (if at all). Thanks!

It's for kids only. A parent needs to sign them up and the child must be present. The child will be asked 2-3 questions from the cm, and then given a show time. You are to get back to the sign up area 30 minutes before the show to "practice" and get their robes and light sabers. The show is a good 25 minutes or so...

As for signing up, each show accommodates 20 kids, so be prepared to get to the park before 11am to ensure a slot! That time also depends on what time of year you go. If it's high crowds for your trip, go at rope drop!

As was said above, its for kids only. My daughter was the first kid signed up first thing in the am. We brought her over, signed up and then waited. It was well worth it. She was 8 at the time (11 now) and she was swinging for the fences on Vader :)

I believe the ages are 4-12. They'll ask your daughter a few really basic questions ("can you follow directions?") and then schedule her. They'll ask you to show up like 30 minutes before the show time for a quick prep, and then 2 or 3 Jedi cast members will escort the kids onto the stage; parents will hang out in the crowd.

When we went last year, we got there within an hour of the park opening and were scheduled for a 3:30 slot so I'll echo the above recommendations to go as early as you can.

What was said above. Here is a short iPhone video of my daughter in February 2013 just before her 5th birthday. She is not a Star Wars fan but completely enjoyed it.

Just to add an additional note, not sure when you are headed to DHS but if it is anytime during Star Wars Weekends ensure that you are there extra early as it is even more popular during that time of the year! They do have additional children per show (some fight Darth Vader and some Darth Maul) but it still fills up very fast. Any other time of year I would say get there around 8:30 for a 9:00 opening. Studios does not do a traditional rope drop like MK does and will sometime open a little before 9:00 if everything is ready to open. Have a great trip!
