Jedi Training times only show for next 3 weeks? Nervous

Aren't these show times usually updated 30 days out?

Our upcoming trip is scheduled for 8/23-8/30, If there is no Jedi Training, I think our youngest might literally climb to the top of Spaceship: Earth and fling himself off.

Well if he can land on his feet, he doesn't need Jedi Training, he already is one :) But seriously, maybe it's just an oversight, or maybe it just hasn't updated yet. I didn't even know they posted times online like that, so that's cool. Hopefully your little one will be able to be a part of the training.

Just another reason not to tell young kids what they are going to get to do at Disney before they actually get there and get in line. We made that mistake more than once over the years telling one of our daughter about something they would see or do only for it be unavailable when we got there.... Now I've learned. Plan things like that in secret and then when they don't materialize only you will know and you wont have to deal with the crushed dreams of your kid.

1) Our kids enjoy getting excited about things they will experience.
2) They are mature enough that we would tell them ahead of time if something was going to be unavailable (as we have with Dinosaur and Big Thunder Mtn being down
3) Obviously I was engaging in Hyperbole about his reaction
4) Do you really think the best advice to give people taking young ones to WDW is to NOT get their kids excited? "Hey Timmy! Guess what? We're going to Disneyworld? That's all I'm gonna say about it for 6 months."

Don't worry!!!! The schedule hasn't been released past then yet. I had scheduled a VIP tour for November, (guarantees a JTA spot), and was told that the times aren't released past mid August or something, but they will be any day now.

JTA is not going away. I completely understand your children's excitement. We missed it last time due to breakfast running late, I won't disappoint my kid like that again!

Just wondering, did you promise him that he would be able to do the Jedi Training? I can understand him being disappointed if you simply told him about it but didn't promise him that he could do it, but if you did, then I could understand the Spaceship Earth route.

I didn't promise him he'd be selected, because he saw his brother do it at Disneyland and knows not EVERY kid who wants will get to do it, theoretically, but he is planning on doing it and being very exited, because, you know, he's a little kid.

You can mention they will have rides... But we don't focus on any one thing. And even if you don't plan on trying to keep them from getting disappointed it can still happen. We had our youngest crushed by being 1 inch to short for the Indy ride at DL one year... New time we were going she was convinced she would be tall enough... And of course what ride was down for refurbs when we got there - Indy. So even when you don't set them up for stuff they will sometimes set themselves up for things.... But I've heard of parents that would tell their kid he was going to get to do the Captain Jack Pirate Tutorial and get them all worked up for it... Only to discover that it was a very random thing back in the day when it was popular and their young pirate was never picked.

Frankly I think if you just tell them where they are going and what they MIGHT see or do you are pretty safe... its the times they get set up for one thing in particular that you risk huge disappointment.

The only piece of advice I can give about JTA is to make sure you get a time that doesn't conflict with anything else you have booked :) Our first day at DHS in March, we didn't realize how early you had to book, so we went back second a day, and the only time they had left was close to our ADR at 50s Prime Time. We were going to cut it close as it was, but then, after 20 minutes of sitting at the bar waiting for our table, we had to ask the host to seat us because of my DD's time for JTA. Needless to say, we had to eat quicker than I would have liked.

I don't see where your response was of any help to the posted thread.

Probably not to the OP, but then a forum isn't intended as simply a means of answer an OP's question or we all just send in emailed replies. It clearly wouldn't help the OP because they already have their kid primed and pumped for the Jedi training... but it might give another visitor the idea of not getting their kids all pumped up for something that they may or may not even be able to experience on their trip....Then again one could also ask you how was your response of any value to the OP as well?

I would have thought differently. Within a forum, someone who has a question would post it in a forum for a large crowd to view and respond to the OP. This would also allow others who may have the same question to view the responses as well. Something which won't happen in a simple email. But what do I know as I am new to this.

Every parent has their own way of parenting. And telling someone they are not parenting correctly would not help or be received positively. They also know their children better than a stranger. And every child is different. Some need to be informed before hand, maybe several times, as they may have difficultly to change and may need to believe the idea is theirs. Then there are others who like surprises. And no matter which type of child, they may have their own expectations as such be prone to disappointment if not successful. But this is all a part of life, and maybe good life lessons.

I only have two children but they can cover the variety of children behaviours depending upon the situation. But that is my responsibility as a parent to manage as I see fit. Unless I specifically ask for parenting advise I an not looking for it in my OPs. I know people like to share their opinions within these forums and the reason in one of my OPs regarding FPs/parks I ask people not to share their opinions on having to complete the 'thrill' rides as I stated we were not a thrill ride family.

You ask a question. You get an answer, it may or may not be the answer you were looking for... Maybe more information than you wanted maybe less... You might say you get what you pay for... take it or leave it.
