Well, it's almost official... we might be going down to WDW the first week of January. I've always only gone in the summer and have no idea what to expect. Any info would be great!!!

We went January 1-6 2004. It was very crowded on NY day but dropped off some every day after that. The weather was great (high 70s during the day but cool at night) for the entire trip except the last day when a front came through. The high temp for that day was around 50 with high winds. Waiting for the MK boat at WL was a killer. Make sure that you pack a couple of sweatshirts, long pants and a jacket along with the warm weather stuff. You can leave the winter coat in Michigan. :animwink:

If you are around on the 8th or 9th of Jan, then you will be hitting the WDW Marathon as well. I think there was a thread here describing the crowds and how to work around the marathon path......

Weather is as PhD describes.....be prepared for anything.

Have a great time. We will be there at the end of Jan.

We have been in January and you can certainly expect a pleasant decline in crowds as compared to summer. The park hours are shorter in January than in the summer - but that is really fine since the crowds are so much lighter (who wants to stand in longer lines for more hours, anyway?) Be sure to check your schedules that they give you when you check in for park night events because some things don't necessarily run every night that time of year - so plan ahead for what you want to see if that is the case. It is really a great time of year to go. As others have mentioned, the weather is great - cooler temps and little or no rain - very pleasant. Have a great time!

Park hours and nighttime entertainment times for Jan are now on the Disney Website: http://disneyworld.disney.go.com/wdw/calendar/parkhours/index?id=MKCalendarParkHoursMonthlyViewPage&date=12005

We'll be down there 5-15, maybe we'll see you there!

Been there a few times right after New Years...crowd levels are low, but on one occasion we were surprised with temperatures in the 40's. I'd just say to keep an eye on the forecast in the days prior to going.
