January or February 2023?

Making plans for a 4 night trip in late January or late February with my daughter. Just the two of us.

Which month would be better? Is the weather about the same for both months? I know weather really fluctuates but we don't want to freeze.

Thinking of staying at Wilderness Lodge since it has fireplaces in several places in the resort if we want to rest and warm up.

The weather is about the same for both months. You won't really know what to expect until a week or two before your trip, but you can encounter perfect mid seventies sunshine or cloudy mid fifties chill. And honestly you can get both on the same trip. And at night it cools down a lot usually do you'll want to bring a sweater regardless.

You'll want to look at the crowd calendars for timing. There's the marathons and half marathons in January and then I think the cheer competitions or something is in February.

It's a toss up weather wise. I've been there where it's been 40 degrees and 80 degrees in the same week. You're more likely to get warmer weather in February, but I've found the crowds are a bit higher in February. The week after New Years in January usually isn't too bad crowd wise in my experience. Layers are your best friend when it comes to the weather.

Layers, and bring a cozy coverup for pool time. When you get out of the heated pool and that 65* or lower air hits you on your walk back to the room, the towel isn't enough. Get you one of those wrap around things with a hood.

Or get in the hot tub right before you're ready to go back, and then make a mad dash for the building. 🤣

We decided on 1/28-3/01. We can stay at WL or Poly. The Poly will be $565 more and what about the construction?

My daughter loves the WL and I love the Poly. She has never stayed at Poly so we decided on it but if we have extremely cold weather, would we enjoy WL more?

Decisions, Decisions,

The definition of "freezing" will really vary based on what you're used to at home.

One thing to keep in mind is water parks are more likely to closed in January due to cooler weather, if that's important to you.

Oh!! This brings up a good point!!

This time frame there are more rides down for refurbishment. It’s never impacted our trip (except Splash which we missed dearly) but just keep that in mind.

We are not interested in the water parks and our last trip in May we planned on going to the pool at YC but just could not find the time.

We are from TN but "cold" in FL is different that cold in TN. We were there one time for the Marathon in early January and our first part of trip was great with highs in 60's but the day of the marathon in the 30's early morning - Brrrrr!
