James Day 4

Disney-MGM Day

After a couple of late nights, we decide to sleep in a little and don’t hit the bus stop until just before 8 a.m. Hey, where’s the bus? A longer wait than usual. Hmmmm. From there, the bus whisks us away to the “Studios”. I’ll say it now. . .I really liked the look and feel of this park. The streets, the buildings, etc. Of course it did not hurt that a lot of Christmas stuff was up. This day probably represented our least planned out day. We started off by strolling around and catching “Sarge” of the army men for a pic and an autograph for the kids. Then it was off for a quick breakfast (the kids were tired of fruit loops). Hmmm. Once again I find myself apart from my notes and my maps. Well, here we go. First stop – Tower of Terror. The wait was a little over 20 minutes. The pre-show and normal 6-year-old apprehension got to Lydia. As we took our seat in row/area 4 of the service elevator, she began to cry. Daddy held her as close as he could and away we went. Sarah and Jeanne loved it but with my focusing back and forth from Lydia to the attraction, I got a bit dizzy. Still a neat attraction. Lydia perked up when we got her a Hollywood Hotel Pluto doll. Next was Vince’s show, The Voyage of the Little Mermaid. Short wait and a good show. The kids loved the underwater feel you get in the theater. Next was Playhouse Disney. Lydia had a ball seeing all her ‘friends’ on-stage. From there, we crossed the park to Indiana Jones. We all enjoyed the show especially Sarah. Then it was lunch at the place next to Indy’s show (sorry I forgot the name). Burgers and chicken tenders hit the spot. From there we did Muppet Vision 3-d. By this time Lydia is a bit wary of the 3-d stuff, but hey, this is the Muppets. Good show. Gotta love Beaker. Next the kids got Woody, Buzz, and Jessie’s signature. Then off to the parade. The parades as a whole were a highlight for us all. Hades’ has to get off the juice though; his neck is a bit freakish. After some more shopping we caught the Beauty and the Beast show. Another winner. There was an acapella group that did a few songs prior to the show, playing themselves off as members of the sound crew. We love this type of music and ended up buying a couple of their CD’s. From there it was off to The Great Movie Ride – one of my must sees. Uh-ohhhh. Lydia has been told by her sister that parts may be too scary for kids. She refuses to ride. With the time we have left, we cut over to the backlot tour. The kids liked this as well but I thought it was a bit short and not too “Back Lot-ish”. Okay, can we be any closer to Fantasmic? We cruise over; again, Jeff Gordon makes an appearance in my stroller skills. We are nearly the last group in and Sarah is upset at our seats (far left side about midway up on the far aisle. Turns out with the water screen, we have a great view. We all loved the show but cannot get over the exit. Everyone had to funnel through the path that leads to TOT. STUPID, STUPID!!! Last question. . .they were doing a soft open on the Osborne lights but I had ditched the stroller at the Fantasmic exit fiasco. The kids opt to call it a night and we do a bit more shopping and catch the bus. Still a great day. :sohappy:
