Luckily a day and a half in the car really wore out the girls and they hit the sack as soon as we got back in on Saturday night. Another good thing is that since we are in the “School Season” the girls are used to getting up early. That being said, we brought Kellog’s ceral boxes and milk so the kids could get their daily dose of Frosted Flakes and Fruit Loops. This, of course, was also done to save money on the morning meal. We hit the bus stop at 7:15 and again, the bus was prompt. At the Barbados resort, we were usually the third drop off and either the last or the third pick-up. We got to the Magic Kingdom well before the ‘Early Magic Hour’ began. So after a quick bag check, we were off to get our stroller. As soon as I set my hands on that lovely piece of blue plastic and steel, I could feel the Jeff Gordon inside be coming to the surface.
Using the guidebook as, well, as a guide, we made a line for Fantasyland. After wiping away the tears upon seeing the castle, we proceeded to go through the castle and head to Dumbo. What a way to start the day. . .beautiful blue skies, my wonderful family, and Dumbo. We then bounced around a bit to Pooh, Snow White, and Peter Pan. We then stopped at a sales cart for some headware for the ladies. After a quick purchase of a visor, a Tink Cap, and a reversible fishing style cap for my youngest, we headed over to Mickey’s Philharmagic. Terrific!!! We finished our visit to this area with a quick spin on the Tea Cups. The girls then got a character autograph from some hottie dressed up like a Queen and a couple of Tweedle’s. We then got a quick snack and off to the Haunted Mansion. The wait was only 10 minutes and the ride was great. Even my youngest enjoyed the ride. From there, we went over to Splash and Big Thunder. Here is where we had our first ‘Fast Pass’ experience. Not a good one. Based on the wait time, we decided to FP Big Thunder and wait in line for Splash. Well the wait for Splash ended up being just over an hour and we barely made the FP for Big Thunder. As far as the rides go… these two were my girls favorites. Splash was probably the highlight of the trip ride wise. Couldn’t tell you what was working and what wasn’t, but everything seemed to be doing fine. That little Blue Jay has a lovely singing voice. It was nice to do the FP for Big Thunder. The girls thought they were some kind of Royalty. Probably should have reversed the FP use. Then it was off to Pirates. Short wait, fun ride. After this, we got a spot for the parade and I went to get some snacks. A couple of Pretzles, some Churros and yes – a Turkey Leg (not bad either). The kids loved the Parade and we got some good pics.
After that, we headed back to the resort for a swim and a bit of a break. After a bite to eat and changing into some ‘cooler weather’ clothes, we headed back. We went to Tomorrowland where we got a FP for Buzz and waited in line for Stich. The 45 minute wait seemed extremely slow at first but picked up. I thought it was okay. The robot in the 1st section was pretty cool. The girls seemed okay with the experience but kept talking about the Chili-Dog breath. After that, we practically walked onto Buzz where we were greeted by a sizable puddle of vomit.
The kids loved Buzz although we all scored fairly low. After that, we got a good spot for Spectromagic. Again. off for some food. This time we did burgers and hot dogs. Good dogs. Kids loved the parade. After some shopping, we got a decent spot for Wishes. Again a winner. The kids loved Tink and the effects on the castle. A definite highlight. By the time the crowd was filtering out we got a Main Street USA front line seat for the second run of Spectromagic. Even better this time being on Main Street. Close the book on our first visit to the Magic Kingdom. It truly was magical. Weather was great. Sunny and the low 80’s. I thought the crowd was pretty heavy but I will let the locals call that one.
