The creator of Avatar, a film in which NO way resembles any other story we have ever seen in the history of cinema, recently had this to say about The Force Awakens:
“This film was more of a retrenchment to things you had seen before and characters you have seen before and it took a few baby steps forward with new characters.

Now, before getting too upset, SW fans...keep in mind that this is coming from the creator of Avatar, a film which thrived on originality in storytelling.

Pot meet kettle?

That is not in context. He was comparing TFA to the other SW movies. Not anything else. And it a complaint many SWs fans have made.

This is coming from the same man who pushed back the date of his Avatar sequel because Disney rescheduled Episode 8 to be released on the same day as Avatar 2. As good as a director and visionary James Cameron is, he is no one to talk.

Completely agree (and I liked the first one). Granted it's Pocahantas meets Ferngully meets Dances with Wolves, but it looked great.
You forgot the "...in Space!" part.

Actually I don't think it will flop. It should do fairly well during a summer release just because of all the eye candy. It all depends on what super hero movies are out at the same time.

I dunno, I thought the new "Independence Day" was gonna do boffo box office. Boy, Disney is sure going to have some 'buyers remorse' if it's a stinkeroo.

Irony? It will be a Disney product that sucks the wind out of the sails of Avatar 2.
Disney shoots down 20th Century Fox's Avatar 2 movie with a movie franchise they grabbed the distribution rights from 20th Century Fox. They then promote Avatar- the land for a few months before shift gears to promote the same movie franchise they used to shot down the Avatar 2 movie with.

This is Disney eating it's own tail.

Funny how he was 115% dead on right, huh?

Anyway...JJ Abrams is signing a massive production deal with Warner brothers.

I’m not sure what that says about the future of Disney/Star Wars?

Could be almost nothing or be a huge commentary/indictment of where it’s at. Remember the Hollywood speculation was iger wanted him to take over LFL last year from the fool...so this move is interesting from that perspective.
