it's time for a new Future World music loop

I know I know, everyone loves and has extreme nostalgia for the Future World/Innoventions plaza music loop.



But...

- it's less than 25 minutes long, and covers such a wide area, making it probably the most repetitive music loop at WDW. (most area loops are around 1 hour)
- it's sound is very 80's and early 90's, in a park that should be striving to not be stuck in the past.
- change is good and keeps things fresh

A modern instrumental mix could do wonders, honestly.

As long as it was the same tune but modernised I wouldn't have a problem. I have it downloaded so can listen to it whenever even if it was replaced so not like it's gone forever.

Yep, honestly even World Showcase could use some new tunes. Some of the stuff is almost downright insulting - Frère Jacques in France?

Be careful what you wish for... remember Test Track 1.0's queue music? Caution, my friend. Playing the odds here, new and better do not go hand in hand at Epcot.

I agree in a way.
I worked for Epcot back in 2007ish I believe.. or was it 2004.. I can't remember, it's been nearly 10 years
They still have the same music in the loop. Now there was some 'updates' with them tossing in a loop of "One Little Spark" and the "Ellens Energy Theme" but.. the original loop is still there and it is rather.. dated.

Of course as mentioned above me, Test Tracks original queue....

The former Meandering Mouse podcast used to have a running joke about how they even play that music in the restrooms. Thus, the host Jeff came to know one particular section of the loop as the P**ping Song, and his mention of it even got the song's composer to write in (in good humor, of course).

I agree it's well past time for an update. I wouldn't mind a longer loop with a mix of old and new stuff.

I agree completely, though the last time I was there was during Flower and Garden and they had mixed in a number of '60s and '70s pop songs into the entrance and Spaceship Earth areas. It felt so utterly wrong.

As for the World Showcase loops, Canada's easy-listening versions of Gordon Lightfoot's greatest hits especially sounds like bad elevator music.

See, THAT's Epcot! Instantly recognizable and just as integral to WDW as "When You Wish Upon A Star." Area music is integral to theme. Could it be replaced? Sure, doing "new" is easy. Doing it well is the hard part. See the thread on the repainting of FW's Central Plaza for more on what "new for the sake of new" can lead to.

Like I said in my first post, I love the loop as much as anyone here, but let's think about this, for every guest that enjoys it for nostalgic reasons, there are who knows how many more who are there for the first time thinking "why is this park playing late 80's/early 90's new age music?"

I actually liked Test Track 1.0's queue music. The problem was you were never supposed to stand in any section of it for as long as you did thanks to Fastpass. That's why it became grating. Otherwise it fit perfectly with the design of the queue.

On the other hand, how many MORE are walking through Epcot not even giving the area background music a second thought and could care less what they have playing?

Probably the biggest percentage of people! But it goes something like:

people who aren't paying attention to the music or don't care >>>> people who wonder why they're playing outdated music >> people who are nostalgic for the music

It is an interesting post about this loop. Now if you look around you can find the single tracks that were pieced together..My absolute favorite that's used on both 19 & 52 minute version has to be Global Neighborhood...This song...Just the way it plays in The plaza just gives it such a great vibe of how futuristic a world of possibilities can be.


And then there is the missing song...Clockworks....I can understand why it was removed as it deemed too whimsy for Future World's setting..

Speaking of old EPCOT loops, aren't they playing the old Wonders of Life loop inside the Honey I Shrunk the Kids Movie Set play area?
