So we added another day to our trip. So we will be arriving on a Sunday and checking out Saturday. So we will have 5 full days and 2 half days (travel days) 6 nights, 7 days all total. Can someone share their itiniary? We have 2 kids, 8 & 6. We are staying at Art of Animation. This is our first time going. We are looking for a few character meals, then we are pretty open for other restaurants. The kids enjoy seafood, Italian, normal diets, etc. We will be there the first week of May. Thanks.

I will also be at WDW during the first week in May for 8 nights and 9 days (my 19th trip). If I had 5 full days and 2 half days and this were my first trip, I would do the following:
Sun - Epcot
Mon - Magic Kingdom
Tues - Hollywood Studios
Wed - Animal Kingdom then Downtown Disney in the evening for a few hours
Thurs - Epcot
Fri - Magic Kingdom
Sat - re-visit your favorite park, swim at the resort, or go to Typhoon Lagoon (You can always clean up in the restrooms located near the resort pool or at the water park because both have showers)

The best character meals for first-timers are: Tusker House, Crystal Palace, Akershus (breakfast), and Chef Mickey's
Some of the best table-service meals for first timers are: Be Our Guest, 50's Prime Time Cafe, Boma, O'Hana, Coral Reef, Via Napoli, and La Hacienda de San Angel

Have fun planning!

Just for another option, here's my family's Sunday arrival - Saturday departure plan for this May. The travel party consists of DH and myself, our kids (son, 7 and daughter, 5), my dad (70+) and my aunt (70). Breakfast every morning will be cereal/fruit/Pop Tarts in the hotel room. We'll have 7-day Parkhoppers, and have run all of our plans through touringplans.com to make sure we have time to do the listed "lands."

Sunday AM - arriving at MCO around 10:00am. Check in to Wilderness Lodge.
Sunday PM - Head to MK. CS lunch. See the 3pm parade and tour Adventureland, Frontierland and Liberty Square (skipping Tom Sawyer Island). Dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern. (FP+ for Splash, Big Thunder and Jungle Cruise).

Monday AM (happens to be my daughter's bday) - MK at rope drop. Tour Fantasyland and New Fantasyland, skipping the character experiences for now. CS lunch at Be Our Guest.
Monday PM - Return to resort for naps/swim. Back to MK and tour Tomorrowland (skipping AstroOrbiter). Dinner at Cinderella's Royal Table. Revisit favorite attractions in New Fantasyland. (FP+ for Buzz, 7DMT if open, and a FP split between Space Mountain and Tomorrowland Speedway, for the non-rollercoaster people).

Tuesday AM - Hollywood Studios at rope drop. Tour entire park (skipping Backlot Tour, Lights, Motors, Action!, American Idol, JTA and Jack Sparrow), departing around 2pm. Lunch at CS of choice. (FP+ for TSMM, Star Tours and Beauty and the Beast).
Tuesday PM - Return to resort for naps/swim. Walk the trail to Fort Wilderness and visit the petting zoo. Dinner/show at the Hoop-de-Doo Musical Revue. Watch Electric Water Pageant from the beach.

Wednesday AM - Animal Kingdom at rope drop (using morning EMH) and tour entire park, OR skip AK altogether and sleep in at the resort, take the resort tour at 9am, and consider mini-golf or shopping at Disney Springs afterwards. Lunch at CS of choice.
Wednesday PM - Return to resort for naps/swim. Head to Epcot and tour Future World. (FP+ for Soarin', Test Track and Character Spot). Dinner at Coral Reef. Stay for Illuminations if the kids are up for it.

Thursday AM - Epcot at rope drop. Tour remaining areas of Future World and begin World Showcase. (Anyone wanting to sleep in late can do so, and join us at 11am as we enter World Showcase.) Lunch at CS restaurant of choice (probably Tangeriene Cafe in Morocco).
Thursday PM - Return to resort for naps/swim. Head to Epcot and tour remainder of World Showcase. Dinner at Biergarten. Afterwards, either revisit favorite attractions in Future World or take the boat to Hollywood Studios to see Fantasmic. (FP+ for Fantasmic, TSMM and Rock 'n' Rollercoaster).

Friday AM - MK at rope drop, splitting up for 2 itineraries. "Pirate" itinerary revisits Splash and Big Thunder Mtn. and Pirates of the Caribbean, with Tom Sawyer Island and the Pirate's Adventure scavenger hunt in Adventureland. "Princess" itinerary heads to New Fantasyland for Enchanted Tales w/Belle, Princess Fairytale Hall, and Ariel's Grotto (all of which were previously skipped), and to revisit 7DMT (if open) and Journey of the Little Mermaid. Both groups rendezvous for Haunted Mansion and CS lunch at Columbia Harbor House.
Friday PM - Return to resort for extended naps/swim. Return to MK and take the monorail to the Polynesian for dinner at 'Ohana. Take the monorail back to MK to revisit favorite attractions, see the Electric Light Parade and the fireworks. (FP+ for Big Thunder, Electric Light Parade and Wishes).

By the way, don't worry about the kids in choosing restaurants. No matter where you go, there will be options like chicken nuggets, macaroni and cheese and burgers for them! Even the more exotic restaurants have a very Americanized and kid-friendly kids' menu.

Here is what I would recommend:
Sun. - Travel Day. Check into resort. Take some time to walk around and enjoy the theming. Go for a swim. Relax. Go to a Character meal for dinner (Chef Mickey's is a good one. You will see Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Goofy, and Pluto, nice way to start your first trip). A lot of this plan depends on what time you arrive at your resort.

Mon. - MK. You have two young kids and this is the park they will most want to go to. I recommend BOG or Crystal Palace (Pooh character buffet) for dinner.

Tues. - HS. Lunch or dinner at Sci Fi (kids will get a kick out of eating in the cars and watching movie clips during dinner) or Prime Time (TVs around showing clips from old 50s shows, servers are your cousins or aunts who correct the adults for not eating their Vegas, dessert menu is a view finder).

Wed. - Epcot. Pick one of the restaurants around WS that you all might like. Tutto Italia and Via Napoli are in Italy. Teppan Edo is a hibachi grill where they cook your food in front of you. If you have girls, Akershus in Norway has a Princess character meal (great way to meet a few of the princesses).

Thurs. - AK. Breakfast at Tusker House (Donald, Daisy! Mickey, and Goofy are there for breakfast and lunch).

Fri. - MK. There is so much to do there, you will need/ want a second day to tour it. Great way to end your trip. Eat at BoG, CP, Liberty Tree, or go to GF for Cinderella buffet at Park Fare (only if you have girls and don't mind leaving the park) or CRT.

Sat. - Have breakfast at hotel. Pack up. Swim if you have time. If you are using ME, the bus will pick you up 3 hours before your flight. CO is 11am as well, but the pool areas do have bathrooms and changing areas if you have time that day.

Since you are first timers, I recommend only one park per day. I also recommend staying in the parks to eat. It just makes things easier.
My plan assumes that you are getting park tickets for five days. If you only get them for 4 Days, you would have a free day to go to DTD or one of the waterparks. It all depends on what you want to do.

You will get many different opinions on how to or what to do on your trip. You know your family best. Do your research. Don't plan on seeing or doing everything. Planning is part of the fun.

I honestly admire someone who is super organized! All we do is make ADRs, no clue what we will do day to day. You would think I would have learned something by now :banghead:

Welcome to the boards!

We are going in January. We have two boys 9 and 11 and they love helping to plan, they each pick their favorite restaurant. Here is our touring....
We arrive on a Saturday afternoon and travel to DTD and hang at our resort!
Sunday Breakfast at Ohana ( character meal ) we love because they bring the food to your table instead of buffet. Then head to EPCOT and tour the World Showcase and have dinner at Teppan Edo ( Japanese grill ).
Monday Spending day at AK and having dinner at Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge.
Tuesday Another day at EPCOT and having dinner at Garden Grill ( character meal ) another family style not buffet.
Wednesday DHS and finishing day with dinner at 50's Prime Time Cafe.
Thursday MK and dinner at Liberty Tree Tavern ( this is my youngest favorite place ) All you can eat holiday dinner nothing special but good.
Friday Breakfast at Crystal Palace at MK before the park opens ( character meal, this is a buffet ) day at MK then ending the day with the Wishes Dessert Party and watching Wishes!
Saturday Pack up and check out and head to a park for a few hours before our flight home! We usually let the boys pick where the want to go and pick at least one ride each!

Hope this helps! Happy planning! :D

Sunday: Check In, Spend sometime exploring your resort and maybe swim a little. Then head to MK, and enjoy dinner at either Be Our Guest (estimated to be open til 11pm or later.)

Monday: Head to Typhoon Lagoon or Blizzard Beach! Nice way to get a break from the Florida heat! After , I would suggest a visit to Downtown Disney. So many restaurant to choose from, so looking at the menu would be your best bet in choosing a restaurant. Even the quick service options are great!

Tuesday: Head to Epcot. (estimated to have morning emh) If you have a daughter, breakfast at Akershus should be right up her alley, breakfast with the princesses! Almost every restaurant in Epcot is excellent, so you really need to find which menu appeals most to your family. But I can personally recommend Teppan Edo, Coral Reef, and Via Napoli.

Wednesday: Head to AK. (estimated to have morning emh) Breakfast at the Tusker House would allow your little ones to meet Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Minnie or Mickey Mouse. Then hang at your resort and have dinner there!

Thursday: Head to Hollywood Studios. Mama Melrose has some seriously good italian food! 50s Prime Time Cafe and Sci-fi have great atomosphere and just okay food.

Friday: Head Back to MK. Enjoy the full day there and have dinner at Crystal Palace!

Saturday: Either head back to MK or back to Epcot. Then head home!
