Itinerary Help

Hello All

I need some help. I haven't been to Disney since 95 and this year we were invited to go by my in-laws (fun fun). Since I love Disney so much I have been chosen to do the itinerary for the trip. We are going May 4-11 and are staying at ASM. We will be arriving around 4:00PM in DW. I need some help planning which days to go to what parks, restaurants etc. Any help would be great. If you have an itinerary that you use please send it to me. My reputation as a Disney fan is on the line and who better to ask than a bunch of Disney nuts. Thanks ::D

I guess I am like you in that I try to plan out an iteneray each time we do to Disney. I do not have the schedule from our last trip in May 2000, but will soon be starting the one for our October trip this year. I noticed that you are staying at the ASM. If you mean Movies, that's where we are staying too. We have stayed at the All Stars in the past, and enjoyed them.
I suggest that you buy the Birnbaum Guide to Disney World. While this book may not be completely unbiased in reviews, it does offer some great suggestions on things to do and when to do them.
I do this each trip: read through the book, highlight important tips and information, then begin a spread sheet on what parks to go to on what days and what rides/shows/eating places to go to. Forma a spread sheet for each park and each day, grouping the rides/shows in the same area of the parks.
I then print the spread sheet, and as we complete the ride we check it off, then head off to the next spot. This saves a lot of "What do you want to do next?" time, and you can make sure that you see all you want to see. We have always done this and we get to see everything on our list.To me, planning all of this is half the fun of going to Disney.

Thanks for the reply David. I have read the book and have many notes but Im still having a hard time putting something together. I just thought someone out there through experince would have this down to a science. I did find a web page that has an itinerary planner that you may find interesting. It is http://www.intercot.com/planner/default.asp. You can download this to your computer and it helps keep your itinerary at hand. It even includes a count down. Thanks again.

Just got back! Here's what we did...

Sunday - Epcot (to avoid any school groups)
Monday - AK
Tuesday - Downtown Disney
Wednesday - MGM
Thurs & Fri - Magic Kingdom

I read "The Unofficial Guide". It broke down the best days to go & what days to avoid. We had no lines except on Friday @ Magic Kingdom.

Have fun!

P.S. My parents came so my hubby had to put up with in-laws too. He actually had more fun them me. We had a blast on Kali Rapids. We rode it several times in a row & delighted in watching everybody get drenched!

I would also suggest "The Unofficial Guide" for guidelines on the best times to see attractions, they do seem to have it down to a science, it worked great for us when we went. I did think that the Guides recommended days to visit were based on early entry attendence effects and was wondering if recommendations still held - thanks for the info!
