Is your spouse "Disney Dumb"?

My poor husband, throughout our entire vacation he was so clueless about everything. I've taken him to Disney World 4 times in the last 6 years and he still can't figure the place out. Like we'll go to MGM Studios and he'll ask if Splash Mt is there. Or we'll go to Magic Kingdom and he thinks the Haunted Mansion is Tower of Terror. A lady asked him to take a survery while I was off taking pictures at MGM and I came back and he told me the answers he gave her and I was mortified (like telling her we were staying at Port Orleans when we were staying at Wilderness Lodge and the Polynesian!).

Oh and another time we were at MGM Studios and we had some extra time so as we were walking by a janitor I said "let's go on the Great Movie Ride" and my husband said "where's that?" and the janitor piped in "Do you need to know how to get to the Great Movie Ride?" and my husband said "yeah!" and the janitor proceeded to explain the directions. I was so embarrassed because we were standing right around the corner from GMR when he asked! I was like "Andy, why on earth did you tell him you needed directions to GMR when you know that I know where it is!" So for the next few days he kept trying to embarrass me by asking "Where is ____?" whenever we'd pass by a CM! He acts like we are dumb tourists who don't know what is going on even though we go to Disney constantly! :hammer:

We went to each park for 2 or 3 days during out stay and by the end he still had everything all confused. It's a good thing I do all the planning.

 Sounds like he's doing it partly on purpose just to annoy you.

It could be worse. He might say something like: "I'd rather stick red-hot needles in my eyes than go back there again." like my wife has said (but she is going to go again this year:D )

Well, I wouldn't call my spouse Disney "dumb", but I will call her Disney "dependent". I do it all for our trips. We're going next week and she wanted to know if I had a typed list for our trip yet. I tell her where to go and what to do while there and she is happy as long as she gets some shows in.

As for your husband, I also think he's yanking your chain, but I think it's funny. I'd do the same thing if I was married to you. Must be a guy thing.

Might I suggest a shock collar for your next trip. Then every time he belts out a dumb tourist question BZZZZZZZ. He will either get the point or minor brain damage. Either way it should be good fun for you.
In all seriousness it sounds like you and your DH are really good friends and in a guys mind that means messing with their friends heads. He very well might be doing these things to tease you. If he was 8 he would probably be pulling your hair and pushing you down on the playground. If this is the case find one of his buttons and push it......a lot. :)

my husband is a know-it-all anyway, especially about politics, computers, finances...he always wins arguements.

So when he is all "yeah I know disney really well since I have been there 3 times" and then he says something wrong, I love correcting him.

Though, I have to credit him with his knowledge of the places that serve alcohol and/or where you can catch a sporting event on tv.

My DH?
Disney Dumb - not really

Plain Old Dumb - Bingo!!!

You beat me too it!

The first year we went my DH kept tapping his watch and telling my DD and I that we were lagging behind. If he would have done it again he would have had to bend over and look behind him to tap that watch. Last year he wasn't allowed to wear it and I made all the plans. What I guess I'm saying is he doesn't need the map. He knows where it all is and he is really annoying about it too. He is lucky I love him! :lookaroun

For me it's not so much my spouse, since she is very familiar with the parks as am I. But the entire rest of my family and friends...forget it! My wife and I will sometimes go to WDW with our families or with a few friends, and I am always the DTG(Designated Tour Guide) They all think we are crazy, cause we go to WDW so often and know the parks layouts and restaurants. They think its some kind of weird obsession. Although I do not mind playing tour guide when we go to WDW, I do wish we knew someone into it as much as we are, since I think it would be fun to go with another WDW nut! :p

I know what you mean, Android. Luckily for me my dh is just as obsessed as I am. But it sure would be nice to go with people who share our obsession. All of our friends think we're nuts. I think they may be planning an intervention. :)

My Wife is a genious at The Magic Kingdom...you can stand her anywhere and she can tell you exactly how far and where any ride/attraction is...

..but when we go to EPCOT's Future World she has no sense of direction whatsoever.

I'm just the opposite.
I know all of EPCOT Center like the back of my hand but get confused in The Magic Kingdom.

We BOTH get lost and confused at Disney's Animal Kingdom though.
We've been there at least 6 times and still get lost.
