Is World Celebration going to be what they say?

In the concept we saw a new building, an interactive tree, new show fountains which I would assume will go along with the beacons and Journey thru water. Something tells me where going to see nothing more than grass and walkways surrounding Journey of Water. As much as I want to call that fountain the Splashpad of nations it seems like it’s different in every image as the Fountain of Nations once was. In the first image it looks like the main part is the size as the top level of the Fountain of Nations and in the first picture very similar but the water would flow into the walkway.

I agree, sadly. I don't think we will see any of that. Just paths and trees and grass. Something they will want to bulldoze ten years from now. Epcot needs so much love but they could do better than this...

These days concept art is more like blue sky art. What we end up with when they are done in 2 or 3 years will be a lot of sidewalks and astroturf. Terrible. 👎👎👎👎👎😡 Poor EPCOT.

I am glad Walt is not here to see this. EPCOT was his main focus at the end of his life. As the story goes, he was on his death bed staring at the ceiling, continuing to design his beloved EPCOT in his mind.

What we have today in EPCOT is a poor tribute..

Unlikely that what we see in the drawings are going to be what we get. Construction always has cost ups involved and as that happens they look where to cut. Idealistic wants and wishes of what is dreamt of and initially planned never materialize fully , especially when bean counters are involved. We will end up getting some, some will look similar but not entirely what’s shown, some things will be missing entirely and sadly we the guests will have to be happy and find satisfaction with what we end up with. At least something will be new and different in the end.

I knew something would crash and burn, they should have just stripped Innoventions and rebuild like they did in the front, gut and rework the Fountain of Nations, into that “story telling fountain” turn Innoventions west into the play pavilion, and call it a day. There’s plenty of room for Journey of water perhaps all in front of the seas would be a good spot. It’s all nothing but planters and concrete anyway.

I'm kind of glad that this is how it might turn out. It'll stand as a testament of broken promises, having people wonder why Epcot was an entire crater all this time for essentially no results. The other benefit is that it works as a blank slate. If we eventually get more creative leadership, it's enough space for an entire pavilion if desired.

Walt would have likely hated EPCOT Center when it opened in 1982. For arguably being one of Disney's best parks, it would have stood as a symbol of his failure to achieve his vision.

Agreed, BUT if he was alive EPCOT would have been HIS vision, not what opened in 1982.
Is the 1982 EPCOT closer to his vision than the 2022 EPCOT? Probably, but I agree, EPCOT that opened is not what Walt envisioned. Not even close.

Todays “reimagined EPCOT” is the shareholders vision. It has nothing to do with Walt

At least they made him a statue.

This concept art they showed made me curious.. Now, hear me out..I wonder if they were intending on bringing back a new modern version to Epcot Magazine..

For some who don't know what it was..here's the explanation from Wikipedia..
Originating from EPCOT Center in Florida, host Michael Young, along with a different celebrity co-host, would present segments on focusing on topical news and entertainment, with subjects ranging from art, food, fashion, and travel. In 1984, a special two-part episode featured a visit to the Walt Disney Archives.

The series ran for an hour on weekday afternoons, with a half-hour evening edition and a full-hour weekend edition presenting recaps of the week's stories.

Not sure where it would air. But, if they were intending to air on ABC affiliated channels during the mid morning or mid day I'd be up for it..

If you want to know what it was like here's a full episode that feature Dana Hill the first voice of Max from Goof Troop..

Well, Walt’s EPCOT wasn’t a theme park. It would have been a community run by overlords more controlling than the HOAs of today. More of a dystopian future IMHO.

I think Walt would have loved EPCOT Center itself, just vehemently disagreed with the use of his acronym.
