Is Universal really that slow right now?

I've seen several posts over the last week about how slow Universal is and how much attendance has dropped at their parks.

True or false?

We were thinking of going for a few days in June and an empty park would make the choice much easier.

Well, as and AP holder, they are sending promotions that I can bring up to 6 friends to the parks for a 1-day 2-park pass at 50% off... if that tells you anything.

The first weeks in May are always really quiet. Used to be my choice time to go..

Wait times today are at 50 min for Simpsons, 45 min for Jaws, 40 min for Disaster and Shrek 4-D.. Islands is a little bit quieter.. So it's not too busy for a Memorial Day Weekend..

It'll get quieter again and pick up in early June when schools get out.

I was looking at the wait times today online as well, but to me this seems like the park is pretty darn busy. I haven't been to UO in about 3 or 4 years, but I went for one day every year for a few years in a row once IOA opened and I always went right in the middle of the summer season and these waits are definitely longer than what I had experienced.

EDIT: Just looked at the current wait times and things have died down a bit right now.

I recieved a mailer for a free one day two park ticket for me and up to six for friends for 49.99 and I have not had a pass for over a year.

You can get a 2 park seven day pass for $100. That's cheap.

They have been doing that for the last two years. The only thing is that you can only buy it online and have to buy it 2 or more days before you go. If you wait till the day before you go or the day you go to buy it online it costs $10 more. Either way this is better then buying it once you get to the park as the 2 park pass at the park is over $120 and is only good for 2 days instead of 7 days.

We did the Florida resident Season Pass, which is unlimited admission to both parks for the rest of the year for $99. That was really the only option that made sense when we priced multi-day tickets.

Even if we only go back once more this year it's still a bargain.

I'm not worried about the lines since we'll have the room key Express Pass, but it would still be nice to have lighter crowds.

Although it is a holiday weekend, today the parks were busy! Not unbearable, but at times even Dragons had a 15-20 min wait. Hulk was running 3 cars at park open, and had a 20 min wait within 20 minutes.
At Uni many things, Jaws, MIB, Simpsons, ET, Shrek were all 30 or more by the afternoon.

Is that really unlimited admission. The website says unlimited admission is for only 7 days.

Well we got in last night and spent the day at the parks today. Back to the room to take a break and change now.

The parks are pretty slow, we have the Loews ExpressPass so no lines for us but the usual wait looks to be 5-20 minutes at most.

One thing we found out the hard way was quite a few things didn't open until 11:00 or 12:00 today. Restaurants, rides, shops, etc...all closed down until noon? Seems strange but I guess they can't justify running full tilt with a half empty park.

I went to US and IOA 3 years ago in June and noticed it was extremely crowded 30-60 for just about everything.

I went back last week and was shocked and kept asking myself "where is everybody?" I went on every med to big ride at IOA in an hour and half. I was able to get on everything else at both parks multiple times (the Mummy 5x!).The longest wait for me was 25 min for Jaws and walked on nearly everything.

They are struggling, especially since the days I was at Disney before and after I saw lines up to 100 minutes and would have welcomed 20 min lines :)
Too bad they are getting so many nice upgrades (Simpsons, Rockit, Harry Potter) and Disney is cutting projects :(

I went to Universal on Saturday and both parks were fairly crowded, but the wait times were not long at all. In one day (from 9 AM to about 8:30) I saw:

Incredible Hulk (2)
Dr. Doom
Spider Man (3)
Ripsaw Falls (2)
Bilge Rat Barges
Jurassic Park River Adventure
Dueling Dragons (Once Each)
Suess Trolley
Cat in the Hat
T2 3D (2)
Shrek 4D
Twister
Revenge of the Mummy (2)
MIB (2)
Jaws
ET (2)
The Simpsons (3)

So that tells you how short the lines were when I was able to do all of that in one park day and still took the time to eat and park hop twice :).

BTW, I thought BTTF was the best attraction at USF and I hated to see it go. I still miss it, but I must say that The Simpsons Ride is absolutely fantastic. One of the best theme park replacements ever, IMO. It honors the past in the queue video PERFECTLY and the motion simulator is synced to the video better than any previous attraction. Very well done Universal Creative.

I was there on July 5th and boy was it empty. It did not even seem like it was near the fourth of july at all. It was wierd just seeing not so many people.
