who loves Disney but doesn't care much for rides? I've always liked the shows, the food, and the shopping best and was wondering if that was odd.

I wouldn't say it was odd. I couldn't say that I don't enjoy the rides though, but I think there is a lot more to it than just rides. I think if we were all honest, we would acknowledge that there are great/better rides elsewhere, but nothing beats the WDW feeling and atmosphere. I always spend a day travelling round the resorts on boats and monorails just taking in the atmosphere and having a wander and a drink in all the hotels. There is just something about the whole place, a certain ineffable quality that sets WDW apart from anywhere else I have ever been. In that respect, yes I completely agree with you.

Not odd at all. Thats what is so great about WDW...there is something for everyone!

Me, I do't do the spinning, dropping or coaster rides. Love to eat & shop though. :D

I agree that Disney, for me is totally atmosphere. I love some rides, and then there are those I avoid for multiple reasons. The same goes for shows, dining, and stores. There is always some things that draw us in, and things that push us away. But the atmosphere is always full of magic.

It was my general disinterest in rides that kept from Disney too long.
I envisioned just another Six Flags, with a collection of roller coasters and such that I didn't particularly care for.
I actually turned down the chance to go with my college roommate to Disney back in 1976.
I actually was a little concerned when the girl I was dating suggested a visit to Disney in 1979.
But I went. And I saw the shrubbery trimmed into the shape of characters. And I rode the Monorail to the park. And I walked down Main Street USA.
And i rode the WedWay Peoplemover. And I saw the Carosel of Progress.
And I fell in love.
I married the girl, too!
