I´m sure your kids will have a blast there. I had a lot of fun there! The food was not amazing or abundant in my opinion. It is a lot better and a lot more abundant in Ohana´s. The service was bad... but that was my own experience and this could have been our "lucky" day. ;)

When reading the title quickly I thought I was being insulted...
The LUAU is really great, believe me, it is worth the money and time, you will remember that show all your life and you will thank yourself. Unless you visit the polynesia frequently this will be completely new for you and really amazing.

I agree it costs the same to eat there as it does to go to the theme park for a day. I have never been to any of the dinner shows, because I would rather have 11 hours in a theme park then 2 hours at dinner for the price. 50 dollars per person is ALOT!!!!!!!

Oh it's great. As for the kids, it depends on the ages. Little kids will love it. Young teens might not, depending on what is "cool" to them. High school teens will most likely like it. You might want to try the Whispering Canyon Cafe at Wilderness lodge for a good family dining experience.

Ok, I have a different take on this one.

I used to love the luau. And every time we went to WDW, we scheduled the luau.

The last two shows I've seen (7 years, and 5 years ago) have basically turned into a fasion show for the most part. I remember many years ago more show and less fasion.

Also, the food is much less than year gone by. Years ago, when they say all you can eat, they were piling it on you plates and stuffing your face with it.

The last time there, I think I had to tackle a waiter and hold his first born ransom to get a second helping.

We don't go to this show anymore. I'd rather spend the money at the Cafe de France with some wine or a day at Sea World than spend my bux at this show anymore.

I thought that it was a great show, but the food wasn't exceptional. I'm not sure what AkiraRaptor means by a fashion show ... I thought the "action" was very authentic.

I will agree that there probably are better dinner shows, just because there is better food. I say you should see it once and make your own decision.

What i mean was while we still had the fire dance, the majority of the show turned into talking about the clothes the dancers had on. It was almost a runway show. This went on and on and on. I saw a bit of this in past shows, but the last one was a good 60%-70% of the show was spent doing a "run way" type fasion show. Maybe they were missing some people that day and just did a filler of this stuff, but it was not worth the money.

Not worth my money. Plus the food situation was not up to the disney standard.

If you need a show dinner, do "hoop". Otherwise, I think this show has gone down hill. It may be better now, so I may be wrong, but I'm not going back to find out anymore.

If I singled out and 1 bad experiance I've ever had at Disney, this would be in the top 3 (with a flat tire on the rental car, and having the resort overbooked and having to wait 3 hours to get a room).

I saw the show in 99 (or late 98) and I agree with Akira Raptor, the food was not abundand at all, and you had to share it with 4 people and when we ordered more, we were told that was all! We were thinking there was another dish coming! Very upsetting... Our waitress was rude and the reason I had fun was because I was with a group of more than 30 people and I was chosen to go on stage, and the guy with the knives came to my table and picked me again... so I had a good laugh. If I had been alone with my family, I doubt I would have enjoyed it that much. And yeah, Akira made me remember the "fashion parade"... lol The show is not that bad, but the food.... I rather spend that money in Ohana´s!

My husband and I took our college age son and his girlfriend to the show 2 years ago. We won't go back. The dancers were obviously talented and hard working...but it was not what we were expecting. We weren't the only people who left early. And I agree...the food was disappointing. There are a lot of other places we enjoy much more.
