Is the GF to Poly path open?

Peak times back up of the monorail ....I shudder to think what will happen when
the new DVC atrocity opens. No transportation will be provided from the tower.
So EVERYONE of the hundreds staying there will overwhelm the Poly system.
Congrats Disney...You are ruining 1 of the most beloved resorts on property.

Hopefully, they have a raised walkway coming from their building with its own security. It would also spread out guests on the platform. If there is only the one entrance as is now, you're correct it would be a huge nightmare.

The platform would be a good idea...Unfortunately there is no further additions like this
1n the plans at all . Here is 1 more nugget to contemplate. Only two 52 year old small elevators
in the Poly lobby .

oops....Neglected to mention the guard shack sized bus stop in place now . I have
seen that setup overcrowded on many occasions .

There is already a plan in place for a new bus loop where the existing resort entrance is, with a new guest resort entrance from Floridian Way once the changes are put in place. How long that will be, who knows…

But this has hijacked the walking path question which was answered. Hopefully it’ll be reopened before much longer.

I really will be relieved when the walkway is available again. It's my preferred route from the MK to TTC at the end of the night.

Same! My family and I canceled all of our plans fro staying at the Poly until the walkway is back open. Friends stayed during MNSSHP and didn't want to walk to the TTC just to get over to MK (and in their defense, it does completely destroy the reason for staying at an MK resort), so they waited almost two hours for a boat over. The line for the monorail was supposedly longer, according to cast members stationed there. Was sad to hear, but I'm sure Poly management hears it a bunch on their feedback surveys.

Any danger of alligators along these walking paths?

I've never had any issues. Yeah, there is water and probably an alligator could be in there but the paths are a little away from the water's edge. Plus, I think that Disney works to capture and relocate any alligators that get to a size that could be problematic. Given that attacks on property are rare, I wouldn't worry. The terrible one a number of years ago was actually caused by people being in the water. That's the only one that I can remember even happening.

There are also lots of fences and netting and signage everywhere that you step warning you to stay away from the water's edge. In my experience in Florida gators almost never venture far from the water anyway.

Exactly. They prefer to ambush from the water. I watch for one just to see one but not because of any degree of concern/caution.
