Is the food from Universal' Cafe La Bamba really that horrible as all these reviews keep saying?

I want to add this to my Universal ticket. It's called Festive Flavors Holiday Buffet.

It comes with:

Event Info
  • Exclusive access to Cafe La Bamba for all-you-care-to-enjoy cuisine, specialty desserts and sparkling wine beginning at 5pm
  • Parade viewing area opens at 7:45pm – Parade begins at 8pm
  • Universal Orlando's Cinematic Celebration™ viewing area opens at 8:45pm
The parade and the Cinematic celebration sounds interesting, but I'm getting wary about the restaurant added to this special ticket.
Everything from Trip Advisor to Yelp has horrible reviews for this place. However, the bad reviews mostly mention breakfast, and as far as I see I would be served dinner if its happening at 5:00.

Also can I go to the Macy parade and the Cinematic celebration without this special ticket?

Cafe La Bamba isn't open to the general public most of the time. These days, they use it for special events like this one. Unfortunately, it will probably be difficult tracking down reviews of this specific offer. The appeal here is the reserved spots for the shows moreso than the food, I would imagine.

Grabbing spots for parades and shows isn't as difficult as Universal as it is at Disney. But offers like this remove the stress if you really want to make sure you'll have a decent viewing of the shows. If you go into the meal expecting a theme park buffet, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.
