I am planning my 34th wedding anniversary visit to DL in late April. I will miss the 60th celebrations, but I will be back later this year. I was hoping the castle would be ready for my visit.
How did this happen in 2004/5 for the 50th? I remember the castle emerging from walls "normally" and then having the 50th decor tagged on overnight.
I remember Iger saying something at the 5/5/05 launch that the crowns were added overnight by WDI, but who knows if that's truthful or not. hahah.Honestly I don't remember. It's very possible that that could happen - but since it's listed for refurb, it's best to expect full covering and then be pleasantly surprised if that's not the case.
That is what the official schedule is, but after the 60th announcement and with the scrims going up this week, a lot of people have speculated that they may stay up until May. I guess we will know for sure if it gets into March and the tarps are still up.According to the Refurb list the Castle walk through should resume on March 1, I hope that means the castle is unwrapped by then. Any thoughts?
Disney would like the big reveal in May, but also having the castle down that long is not good for business.
My complete guess is that right now they are doing the prep work and castle painting and get it out from behind scrims asap. Then in May it goes down a second time briefly while they add all the bling.

Ah, what I suspected. Perhaps that's what will happen for the 60th. Paint and THEN all the diamonds will get added before 5/22.They did the majority of the painting and other refurb during it's time under wraps. The night of May 4th, they added the crowns and other decor.
