Um, I'm guessing you might have been turning your TV off at the part that Jesus Christ was crucified. If you keep watching, you'll find out that, indeed, Jesus rose again from the grave to give the hope of salvation to everyone that believeth. Yes, I know I just went off on a biblical quote, sue me, I'm a Christian. :p This is exactly what that "joyous holiday" is all about, though the public seems to want to ignore Jesus, the real reason for the holiday, and replace Christ with the Easter Bunny and egg hunts. This seems hardly fair to me

dadisneynutter--I think you are saying what I've been unable to articulate.

Easter is all about Jesus.
Although it occurs during Passover, it's not about Passover.
And it is most certainly not about Moses.

Biblical epics are not interchangeable.

Actually, as the popular Christian praise song states, "Christ our Passover is sacrificed for us; therefore, let us keep the feast."

Easter, for Christians, is very much about Passover, in that Jesus became the Christ, the savior, by becoming the ultimate "sacrificial lamb" for a permanent "passover."

So, while I agree that "The Ten Commandments" is actually not directly related, on its surface, to Easter, it is relevant to discuss passover at Easter. It is the genesis (so to speak), of the Christian faith and its connection to the faith of the ancient Hebrews.

As for Disney/ABC, however: I think that the real reason why they choose it as their "biblical epic" is that it is safe. It satisfies the "religious" crowd, while offering a story that all major faiths embrace....
