Is Star Tours gonna update soon?

I have heard many rumors about Star Tours being updated, possibly a few updates so that there is a couple of different movies that you could possibly ride instead of just the Death Star run. Has anyone else heard about this, or what's going on with an update on Star Tours? I personally think they should add a couple new movies to add variety. Like maybe a fly through Endor, Pod Race, or a trip through one of the new worlds from the new movies. Any news?

That is actually a good idea. Have several different destinations, and you do not know where you are going until the ride starts. It could be like TOT where you want to ride over and over to and get a different experience every time.

TOT kinda confuses me, its supposed to be a different expierience, it just drops you in different ways. i take a different lane when i go to work everyday you dont see me makin a big deal about it.

anyway about star tours, i haden't heard of different movies but that would be great if you could choose.

Wouldn't it make sense to postpone updating this ride till after Episode III has been released? That way they could include footage from that film as well... so its completly updated.

I actually heard that George Lucas (who supervised the designing of the original Star Tours) was in talks with Disney Imaineering and Mike Eisner, but he told them that he would not start work on a new Star Tours until after he was finished with Episode 3. The Disney/Lucas relationship has actually been strained the last few years, ever since Alien Encounter. Read the Alien Encounter article at www.jimhillmedia.com for more info on how George Lucas isn't too happy with Disney.

Having different version would be great. Heck the computer could pick which version and you could always end up on the same ending world. This would give lot of variety to this ride.

Rex- Where we going now?

I really like the idea of going to different places, but if you didn't get to choose, people might be dissapointed. (especially if they get the old one) The bad thing about the ride as it is is that it isnt that repeatable, being the same movie every time. Too bad the technology is so outdated on this ride, even new movies might seem lame.(but a BIG improvement)

alright you didnt hear this from me BUT.... if you go on star tours and want to spice up the ride a little, you can buckle the seat belt a little loose and as the ride is going hold your butt off the seat so it seems like your in the air to the sensors in the bottom. the ride will shut down.

There have been a number of different senarios as to why this has never happened.

1. GL waiting until after Ep III
2. GL demanding new projection before he will authorise an update
3. LFL pulling the attraction in all parks
4. GL demanding new simulators as part of the upgrade

Then their were the different ride rumours

1. Pod Race
2. Coruscant Chase
3. Multiple Desitnations

Frankly I think the whole thing is a massive red herring....
