Do they hire more people for one or the other? also, are you more likely to get hired if you are doing the advantage cuz they will want you to be there longer? jw! thanx! :)

Wow! There's been a lot of interest in Character positions lately! Cool!

Anyway, as for whether it's better to audition in the spring or fall, doesn't really matter. But, if I had to pick i'd say spring. Only because in the fall when you audition, you kind of are auditioning around the lower attendance month periods (October-Beginning of Nov.) where as in the spring, they are getting you ready for the Summer when everyone visits, all the Floridian kids are out of school and the park attendance is higher. But then again, if you audition in the fall, that's also closer to Christmas and Thanksgiving, but that's pretty much it, nothing really goes on in Jan-March.

It is pretty much the same in either fall or spring, but keep in mind that in the fall you have more things going on at the parks (Christmas, Thanksgiving, New Years, etc...). These big holidays tend to have the characters out more because there are more people there so they may hire a little more to keep the cast members from being overworked in the costumes. Like WDWKat26 said the spring time is gearing you up for the summer.

As for there being more interest in Charcter position lately. You are correct there is more. I have noticed that the College Program now lists it as a role choice when you interview. In the past I have never noticed in on there.

I was in spring advantage and loved it. I had friends who did both and they said that both times of the year were the same. The only differnce is when you go with the spring its cold when you arrive and very hot when you leave. or if you do fall its hot when you arrive and by teh time you leave its cooler. The decision is up to you. Some people i know did not do the fall because they would miss turkey day and xmas with the family.

If you do Spring the only major holiday you work for is Easter and the week before and after. If you Work the fall You work Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years. Also The weather is really good during the spring in my opinion.

I will be auditioning in early December, so I can be put into the 'Character Pool' so I don't have to wait around all summer, to get called.

Also my brother was saying that you can be trained "Pieces at at time" instead of like a straight week through. So i'll check into that.

Not to burst your bubble or anything, but the auditions go based upon what height range they have open right now. Sometimes they could be auditioning for Mice height, and other days it could be for Chewbacca (6'6!)

As for Christmas, that's usually when we have the most cast members working, and I would think you'd be in the pool longer since Disney will want to have a full staffing for the holiday season. I auditioned in July and got put into a pool, and they called me back in 2 weeks. It's all about the availability.

Their auditions are based on what people want the job, not on height.

I want to be put into the 'Character Pool' in December, so I will be called early for summer. So I won't have to wait the whole summer.

How would you have to wait the whole summer if you auditioned in the summer. That is when they are really looking for people not during the winter, after christmas it gets slow until the summer rush comes. And they do hire depending on what height they need which they need quite a few mouse and munk height peeople. If you are to common of a height as in Pluto or above there is a chance you might not get chossen due to the down time.

Umm, actually it is based on height. They tell us that in the beginning of the audition, and they tell you that when you get put in the pool, i'm not pulling this stuff out of my rear here. They say when you get into a pool, "You did great, and you are what we're looking for, but we don't have any positions for your height range right now". Trust me, i've been wanting this job for the longest time, and I got put into a pool. Also, when my Dad called casting they say "Character/Parade Performer" and then they say the height range.

And you're saying "I want to be put into the Pool"? Why? Plus, they only keep you in there for 6 months, and secondly, how are you SO SURE that you're going to be called? Besides, they could hire you right there, and say you don't want to work right away, then what are you going to do?

Its based on height, sorry Sir Hiss. But if they dont need your height they make you wait until that height is needed. Like I said audition for the summer thats when they need to most people. You would have all the summer to work than just a few days maybe here and there during the down time.

okay...here me out....please

My brother auditioned in March of this year 2004, right before the summer...he got put into attractions over at the speedway. He waited the ENTIRE summer, then about August they finally called him saying "We got a position for you". He took it and went to training.

Me and my brother are basically the same height range..so why if I auditioned early would it make any difference? I know that it's always changes..but I like to go by his experience.

If I audition now, I'll be put into the 'Character Pool'. And I might not have to wait the summer. Now if they DO call me early..I'll pass the position..saying "Keep me in the pool, and call me back another time"
