Is Spaceship Earth still burnt?

Last time I was at WDW I noticed that it looked like Spaceship Earth was burnt on the side. I don't know how it got there. So I have 2 questions:
1. Do you know how it got there?
2. Is it still there?

If it looked something like this then no, it's has been cleaned. Was probably caused by a lightning strike. Other causes can be that the air pollution from Illuminations makes SSE dirty and so Disney power washes it every now and then which causes the dirt to trickle down and this is a patch they missed since it is usually done at night.

That almost looks like where some of those godawful stars were located when the hand and wand existed. Do you know when that picture was taken?

I don't remember when the wand came down, but, if it was about that time, that would be my guess. They had to take off the hardware, plug up the holes and refinish the surface. Still not sure that is what it is, but, it seems possible.

Ah, yes... American Pavilion at Man and His World in Montreal. Expo 67 was 49 years ago and yet what is left of that structure is still being used. Not closed in anymore, but still accessible. At least it was that last time I was there which is probably 8 years or more ago.

The Rebels / Resistance can't seem to go anywhere near a large sphere of any kind without having to blow it up.

Old photo. But SSE is power washed twice per year which takes about a week to do. All of the dirt is pushed from the top downward. Not burnt, no worries.
