Is pirates of the carribean now a fast pass ride?

I don't think it is as we speak, but I thought I heard that it was going to be made one during the rehab... You jogged my memory a bit when you asked. From what I'm told, the lines aren't that bad and the fast pass idea (if I didn't completely make that up...) was abandoned perhaps.

I could be wrong.

No fast pass. With the queue set-up, I think FP would be a disaster. You already load from two sides and if you made one FP only, you'd double your standby lines.

I've seen standard waits in the 20-30 minute variety the last couple times I've been.

Nope, and I hope to God it never does become one. It would be just as pointless as FP on HM was. As MissM said also, the way the line is designed, there is really no way to do it and keep standby at a reasonable time.

The last week of October wait times were 5-10 minutes. It was wonderful to not have to wait, but we throughly loved the ride. No FP.

No fastpass, but they could have used it one of the days when we were there. Saturday, October 21, we came to the MK around 1:30 from AK. The wait for Pirates was 1 hour 20 min!!! (I've NEVER waited longer than 30 minutes for ANY ride at WDW when we've been there, always in October.) We couldn't believe it. We didn't wait and thankfully, when we came back on Tuesday the 24th, we walked on. That Saturday was quite warm, so I guess all of the locals decided to hit the parks that day. (I know Saturdays are usually more populated at MK than during the week). I'm glad that the first wait time wasn't indicative of the wait time for the rest of the week. We managed to get on it at least 4 times while we were there.

I always think that it is, and I forget thta it isn't, and then when I go again, I think the same exact thing. Deja-vu, much?

But the waits, for me at least, are actually really short (about 10-15 minutes, in my expierience), so I don't know why they'd need it to be FPed.

I havent been on the ride since the rehab and im very worried about it....

I hate the fact that they changed the ride to be like the movie when the movie was based on the ride.

Is the ride terrible now?

Nope! It's actually very much the same. It does a nice job of being the classic PotC we love with just a little updating. Honestly, you'll be surprised at how much is still the same. It's just been freshened up, a cool Davey Jones effect, and Jack added. In fact, some people didn't feel that it was enough changed. I think they did a great balance between updating it and preserving the ride.

Actually, WDW's Pirates could never really effectively have FP due to the load configuration, and having 2 separated load platforms.

Pirates never has a problem with the wait. Both times over the summer it was a half hour and it's pretty cool in there. I almost passed out while waiting, but I just hadn't been feeling well that day, but normally the lines aren't bad, and the queues are wide enough (i'm a pretty average sized person but I hate being cramped)

That's a very good point. If they ever did decide to add FP to POTC (which would be a mistake), they would have to do some serious reconfiguration in the queue.
