Does "Light Magic" count since they had a moment near the end where lights are projected on the three units. All I know is that Disneyland is notorious for making annoying light parades.

You can't just dismiss opinions like that. I admit that I've never seen PtN live (heck I've not been to DLR since 2009), but I feel watching the video is enough to make an initial opinion, not a final opinion. Maybe my opinion will change next time I'm at Disneyland, maybe it won't. All I'm saying is that you can't just invalidate opinions on a whim especially when they have arguments behind them.
A light parade is not food, you are not supposed to smell or taste it, you hear and see it. Food is a fallacious and completely inaccurate strawman analogy.Sure they can. Let's say you showed me a picture of your favorite dish at your favorite restaurant on earth. Then after looking at the picture I tell you that it doesn't look very appetizing and therefore it must not be all that appetizing. What would be the first words out of your mouth? I'm not a betting man, but if I were I'd bet any sum of money you would say I'd need to smell it and taste it before my opinion was valid. Same thing with this parade. By watching it online you're not getting the full experience. Just as I wouldn't be smelling or tasting the dish you showed me a picture of, you wouldn't be getting the effect of 360* views, the effect of the performer's interactions, or the ability to rotate your head and be surrounded by (and fully immersed in) the entirety of the experience.
This is like many things in life: seeing the Grand Canyon, watching a rocket launch, going to a sporting event, heck even going to your kid's recital....all of it is best experienced in person because then you get the full effect of actually being there.
But the fact that a lot of the "critics" are saying that a rust bucket that is the definition of bad show is better is completely laughable. A lot of the complaints coming from people on here (who again have not seen it in person) sound like nit-picks from people who are again jealous that Disneyland got a better addition than WDW did. It happens all the time on here, DLR gets a big addition and almost immediately fanboys start claiming it's crappy because they don't have it plain and simple.A light parade is not food, you are not supposed to smell or taste it, you hear and see it. The other analogies are better, though still not comparable. Grand Canyon in particular has a sense of scale that can't be even remotely replicated via video. Something similar can be said about rocket launches.
Again I respect the need to see something in person to fully appreciate it, but the issues expressed in this thread again are not going to disappear or correct themselves by seeing them in person. People who don't like the music or the float designs aren't going to suddenly change their opinion about those specific aspects. I posted comparison images earlier to explain my issues with the float design and detailed what was wrong with Paint the Night.
I think I would have lost my mind if I had to sit thru that.Does "Light Magic" count since they had a moment near the end where lights are projected on the three units.
I'm not jealous at all that Disneyland got a sub-par parade. The only thing I really want at WDW that DLR has is the Hatbox Ghost. But the fact that a lot of the "critics" are saying that a rust bucket that is the definition of bad show is better is completely laughable. So NONE OF YOU have seen this parade in person? Hhmm...
Well see about that for WDW's 50th anniversary plans in a couple years from now.But the fact that a lot of the "critics" are saying that a rust bucket that is the definition of bad show is better is completely laughable. At this rate be grateful if we even get a pin for the 50th...Well see about that for WDW's 50th anniversary plans in a couple years from now.
