Is October good for late-night EMH?

Hey guys, it’s been 12 years since I’ve been to Disney and I’m planning a trip with girlfriend who’s never been before. We’re looking at October (which I understand has gotten much busier in recent years), and I was hoping you guys might know what to expect in terms of EMH around that time of year. I know the schedule isn’t out yet so anything said here is pure speculation, and I’m ok with that.

And by late-night EMH, I mean up to midnight or even 1am. I remember the lines being really short for rides like Splash Mountain at midnight and how fun that was, and I was hoping to share that experience with my girlfriend when we go on our trip.

And if not October, what months are ideal for that?

There aren't any months like that left. No matter what time of year or how late the park is open, you almost never see extremely short wait times for evening Extra Magic Hours anymore, especially since the park that has evening EMH tends to attract a disproportionate number of guests.

You're much better off going to bed at a decent time and taking advantage of either morning EMH or regular "rope drop" at non-EMH parks.

Yeah, we have gotten to the point we avoid nighttime EMH at all costs. In fact, we’ll avoid a park that has EMH for all or most of the day.

The exception, from what I hear, is if you stay til the end. The really late night EMH can be good.

Morning seems to be better.

We used to love going all over the parks at night when everyone was watching parades and fireworks, without EMH. It seems the only way to get that now is by very lucky happenstance, or paying for an evening event.

You can be very successful in Fantasyland any time after dinner, especially with same-day FastPass. We've had lots of luck bouncing between Mermaid, Dumbo, Barnstormer, Pooh, and Teacups one after another by booking additional FastPasses with immediate availability while waiting to board.

Pay for the Disney After Hours or MNSSHP if you want to experience a low crowds till the early AM.

God I feel so dirty for saying that.

We only had one night of EMH during our last October trip but I think it ended at either 11pm or 12pm. There were a lot of Halloween parties that were scheduled. We went to one of the parties but left early because it was so crowded on the Tuesday that we chose to go. We definitely had lower crowd levels when we went at park opening for extra magic hours.
