Is M:S "yellow" weaker??

Cast member deny it.

And people on these boards try to convince you its psychological.

But NUMEROUS people have noticed that Centrifuge Yellow is significantly less intense.

On Sunday, my group of 4 rode Yellow, Blue, Red, and then Yellow again. Without sharing my thoughts with them, everyone concluded that yellow was the weakest.

Unlike coasters that may SEEM faster at certain times--- M:S can be physically measured. Does your face pull back or not? Can you move your arms easily? Does your harness squeeze into your chest during liftoff?

Someone online recently suggested that maybe yellow is INTENTIONALLY weaker.

Strangely, while waiting in a completely full BLUE pre-show, a family with young kids started wimpering. The CM noticed them, yanked them out of BLUE, and put them into YELLOW. (Maybe something was wrong with their Blue capsule, but it seemed like the CM's were intentionally putting the nervous family in Yellow)

Any thoughts?

I think it's entirely possible that one M:S centerfuge is weaker. It does make sense to have one for the people who want to experience it but don't like such an intense ride. I don't really know anything about this though.

Last Weekend I rode all 3 fuges that were open.
Yellow was the only one that I could feel spinning and I could move my feet around during the launch. Red and Blue I could not move my feet without alot of resistance....

Here's some info I read earlier today. The poster is a CM who works with pyrotechnics at WDW. I don't know how reliable he is with other areas.

team ran the different pads at different 'lift-off' rates. The
difference between the various rates was less than 1/2G - the science
of human reaction when it comes to G-Forces is very well documented.
Now, all the pads run at the same G-Force although the speeds vary by
a few RPM (because of mechanical differences).

EDIT- I wrote my post before I saw the one above this... I think it says the same thing as mine, but its a bit to technical for me :)

It makes sense that this would be so...

But why would they hide it? Unless its more of a mistake, and that CM happened to know that Yellow is less intense... and its not supposed to be weaker...

Anyways, I'll be sure to go for Blue and Red when I ride it :)

EDIT #2: Just reading ISTCrews update...
--FUGE GREEN IS NOW OPEN!!!!! I got to ride it 3 times, and it is just like Gold, not intense. I dont care what you say, and what logic is behind it, but Fuge Red is the most intense fuge.

Maybe it's done on purpose.. and don't want ppl to know... Maybe the cast members are trained not to say anthing and spot people that they think would prefer the yellow pod. Maybe it's mental. Maybe it's not,

WHO KNOWS!

When I was waiting in one of the ready rooms someone asked a CM how many G's the Fuges pull, and the CM's response was that they were not allowed to state exactly how many G's that it pulls, although "it is about the same as they expirence at NASA"

It was an odd answer

I think thats BS. The tests at nasa go pass 5 G's. And If Im not mistaken the limit in G's for an entertainment ride are from 4.5 to 5 G's and i'ts only for less than 2 seconds. :hurl:

I agree that Yellow is less intense, but it probably has more to do with power and the actuall mechanics rather than Disney saying "HEY! Lets just slow down a centerfuge!" Remember that red and blue are at the back of the building while Green and Red are in the front! :)

Also, the Gs someone can experence before black out is around 6. Some states has forbid rides to do more than 5, but not Florida. M:S pulls aprrox. 2.5 gs give or take a few tenths of a g.

Well I for one would like to add that I DO think that Blue and Red (Red especially) are more intense than Gold. Now maybe if I hadn't had my first ride on Gold I would have had a much better first impression. I know alot of people in the know say that all the 'fuges have the same intensity but I would swear that it at the very least SEEMS like Gold is weaker. I rode the ride only 12 times my last trip but I did ride it enough to where I DID enjoy my trip more in the Red 'fuge. Maybe it all is psychological but that's good enough for me.

The ideal situation for Disney would be make all four 'fuges different strengths and let people know about it so they can decide which one they would prefer. But I KNOW that this is impossible especially with FastPass but it would still be great nonetheless.

Yes this happened to me too. It just seems weird that when it happened to me it was done with a "nervous and scared person" also. Of course this doesn't mean that its true it just does seem weird that the same thing happened to me.

IMO..... It's all between the "ears"

But there could be another reason for swapping the kid...
The temperture in the pods are slightly different, 1 or 2 degrees or so...

Now, there's an old and well known fighter pilot trick when they take a guest along, they don't like... turn up the heat a bit (or the cooling a bit down) and then, you only need a few negative G's to turn some people into a vomit comet.

So it could be that the "yellow" was cooler that day...

Just a thought...

Very well could be the case.

Well, I have to say, Green is even slightly LESS intense than gold...Lemme get this out now, Green sucks. Blue is the only one that gets me sick, Gold is alright, and Red is the most intense, most fun, and better over experience, and the Fuge hallway smells good to lolol:lol:

I went and got 9 more rides in today, pretty much just to see if I could tell a difference between them. I couldn't feel much of a difference at all. I certainly couldn't tell which one I was on just by the forces.

I think I'll subscribe to Corrus' theory. :)

Perhaps it is where you sit in the pod that makes the G's seem different? I have been thinking about this for a while so hear me out. In order to produce the g's you must be spun with the axis near your center of gravity. A gravitron, for example, is circular which results in the exact same amount of G's being placed no matter where you choose to stand. On M:S however, the shuttles are perfectly straight across and therefore the forces applied to the Navigator and Engineer positions would, in theory, be slightly "off" because the center of the spinning motion would be between Pilot and Commander. Now I could be crazy but when I was placed in one of the outer positions, I could sense the spinning a little more than the inner ones. It almost felt as though the g's were pushing at a different angle in relation to my body and the back of the seat. Can anyone else back me up on this?

WOAH!!!Brain fart lol....I noticed, that, if your an engineer, it was easier to feel spinning, cause you were shoved down, and to your right, quite a bit. Again, IF YOU KEEP YOUR EYES ON THE SCREEN, YOU WILL NOT FEEL IT!!!!!....Imma gonna have 1000 pm's from people who ask me how to skip the engineering position. What im saying, is, I really dont know, just pretty much a jumble of stuff. We still have time beofre August 15th. The way MS is now....its not set in stone, and MS will move out of the "test/ajust" phase august 15th. As of now, there still ajusting:) ......(There are many things certain pods do, while others dont)

It's a good theory.

However, last weekend, each member of my group kept the same position for each of our 4 rides.

We ALL agreed that yellow was less intense.
