Is it really that bad?

So me and my fiance were planning a couples trip to WDW in May 2014 to celebrate our anniversary. But recently I was talking to a friend (who happens to date my fiance's cousin who is also his best friend) about possibly surprising them with a trip in mid March to celebrate both my fiance and his cousins birthday instead. My question is... March... spring break:eek: ... how crowded are we talking? what will the wait times look like? Will we still enjoy ourselves?

Easter is considered holiday time. The parks experience periodic closings because there are to many guests in them. I would definitely avoid that week at all cost.

Spring break is CRAZY. I wouldn't recommend going around Easter if you can avoid it.
It's also a lot more expensive.
You could always surprise them with an early birthday trip and go in February (lots cheaper, less busy.)

We would be looking at March 9th to 16th which is a few weeks before Easter (April 20th I think) so is that still a really crowded time? I know its more expensive but I guess, we were thinking Birthdays in Disney would be special.

Touring Plans has those dates projected at

3/9 - 7
3/10 -8
3/11 - 7
3/12 - 8
3/13 - 9
3/14 - 9
3/15 - 9
3/16 - 9

We have our birthdays in March, April and July we will NEVER be taking a trip for our birthdays.

If you could go a week earlier, it will be less crowded and probably a little bit cheaper. We were there this past year until the 6th, and I noticed the rates went up a lot just a few days after that. Also, the crowd level was not bad at all that week.

We usually go between March 10 and March 17 because we attend Braves Spring Training games. We do venture into the parks for a few hours and have never had a real problem...unless Easter is REALLY early and we tend to be there in the later part of the dates above.

I'd say if you're going to do March, do it as early in the month (and far away from Easter) as you can manage.

I would love to go in April next year but I used to go for spring break all the time as a kid...never again if I can help it. I was almost in my 20s before I knew Splash could have less than a 1 hour line.
