Is it possible to stay at 3 resorts on one single trip?

So I am already planning my trip to WDW for next summer and have a question. Has anyone ever done 3 different resorts on one trip? And did you find it fun or was it too much of a hassle and not worth the trouble? I was contemplating doing the AKL the first 3 nights, the Swan or Dolphin for nights 4 and 5 and then the Poly for nights 6 thru 11. I might just stick to AKL for 3 and the Poly for the remaining 8, but since I have never stayed anywhere else but the Poly, I thought I might try an Epcot/Boardwalk area resort.

Thanks!

** I want to apologize if there is an existing thread containing this answer already. I tried doing a search in these forums and couldn't find one, though.

I did 3 different resorts in May ~ All Star Music (1) Poly (2-5) and Pop (6-9). I did not mind switching and it felt like three mini vacations instead of one long one. I used Uber on the switch days so I could transport my luggage (Disney will do it but it can take several hours.) Keep in mind you may have to wait until mid-afternoon for the new room to be ready, but you can check in at any time and use the pool and other resort facilities while you wait.

It is possible to stay at all of them...just not all that practical.

Going from Disney resort to Disney resort is pretty easy, but the Swan and Dolphin could complicate things.

Disney will transfer you luggage from one Disney resort to another for you. I do not think they will do the same at the Swan and Dolphin.

Ahhh! Well then I might opt for the Beach or Yacht Club or the Boardwalk now instead. Thanks for the reply! I was thinking the Swan or Dolphin just because they are a lot cheaper and it's a way to save. But it may not be worth that hassle like you said.

Thanks! Yeah, I thought it might make the vacation seem like separate mini-trips. I have no problem coming back to the hotel around 2 or 3p anyways since I usually take a break mid-day for a bit before heading back out to the parks around 5 or 6p.

Absolutely, you can stay at a different resort every day if you really wanted to... But the logistics might not make it worthwhile if you try to cram too many into a short stay. I'd say start with two resorts and see how it goes, unless you're really determined. You don't want to spend more time juggling resorts than relaxing, hitting the parks and enjoying your stay.

As mentioned, Disney will move your luggage between their resorts for you, but it does take time. There's also the issue of check-in and check-out times (3pm and 11am, respectively). So you'll need to take those into consideration. You can ask for a later check-out, if that helps (usually until 1pm without charge).

I've done three once before... One night at Riverside, seven nights at Saratoga Springs, and one night at French Quarter. We originally only had the Saratoga week booked, but the price of our flights kept fluctuating to the point that we actually saved money by adding a day on each end. I wouldn't recommend it. Every time you pack and unpack and repack, it shortens the trip in your mind. Rather than saying "I'm on a nice six night trip," the mindset becomes "I'm on this three night trip followed by another three night trip," which makes it feel just a bit hectic IMO.

Yes you can! The only thing is that it never felt like we got settled in. We did 2 nights at AKL, 2 nights at BLT and then 4 nights at BCV. It was a great experience, as at the time we did this family vacation, none of us had ever stayed at any of these resorts. So it was cool to experience them all.

This definitely takes time and can be a bit hectic. Each stay is its own reservation with makes the trip feel like you are on multiple trips instead of just one. Personally we never book a multi-stay unless we cant get the hotel we really want for the duration of our trip. Usually that never happens but if it does its usually on night at what ever is available then the rest of our trip at our main resort.

My next trip will be 3 different resorts. It just kind of worked out that way because I recently purchased DVC and had a trip booked already. So there were a few night left available for me to book with my points right in the middle of my trip. So I will be at POR for 4 nights, BCV for 5 nights and POFQ for 6 nights. I am really looking forward to my trip. :D

Last year we were at the world for 12 days around thanks giving with 2 different parts of our family. one group thanksgiving week at Old key West, then a second group for Kidani village for 2 nights then 5 nights at beach club villas.

painless moves with the exception of getting magic bands to unlock doors at kidani village, and 1 bit of meal plan confusion.

If you're going to be there during the summer I'd probably just do AKL for 3 and then the Poly for the remaining time. For me, like Captain America said, I never feel settled if I'm staying at a resort and then know I have to switch. The other option would be to stay at the Yacht or Beach instead of the Poly. There's something to be said for being able to walk to Epcot or Hollywood Studios. If you're going to be going to the MK often then I'd stay at the Poly.

Given that you're staying at each place for multiple nights, I'd say go for it, with one caveat -- pack lightly and efficiently, avoiding loose or bulky items, so you don't need to spend lots of time or effort unpacking or packing up each time. (e.g., keep toiletries in or near your toiletry bag in the bathroom in each hotel; either keep clothes on slim hangers from home and fold them into your suitcase on those hangers, or roll them and keep them in packing cubes that can simply be zipped up and placed in your luggage to pack, and unzipped and tucked into a drawer when you unpack. Be sure you have a sufficiently large park bag (e.g., squishy backpack) to hold items you'll want to have with you during the "homeless hours" between checkout and checkin at each place, or while waiting for your luggage to be transferred -- things like your wallet and ID, phone, swimsuit, PJs, meds...). Keep a big Ziploc bag handy in your luggage in case you need to pack up a wet swimsuit, and bring a laundry bag or something similar, to separate your dirty clothes from clean ones in your suitcase.

Be sure to do an extra- careful "sweep" of each room just before checking out, to look for anything that might still be tucked away in a drawer or under the bed.

Finally, make the most of each location by planning to focus on the parks and restaurants closest to each hotel while you're staying there -- in your case, AK/HS while at AKL, Epcot/HS while at Swan/Dolphin, and MK/Epcot while at the Polynesian.

I can totally see that not settled in feeling being an issue with me as well. I can't do WDW without the Poly lol I have only stayed there up to this point and for me, it captures the magic of WDW perfectly. I might consider doing just the Yacht or Beach Club for 3 or 4 nights and then moving to the Poly for the remainder of the trip. The MK and Epcot are my 2 fav parks so both of those resorts would cater to my favorites perfectly. Although the Poly is almost as convenient for Epcot since you can just walk to the TTC and hop on the Monorail. But the AKL has theming that is more appealing to me than the B&Y Clubs do. I am definitely going to have to dwell on this one for sure hahahaha

I know if I do end up at the AKL, I plan on mostly or only doing the AK, the Studios and both water parks those 3 or 4 days.

I average 4 plus resorts a visit. I like to experience the unique offerings of different resorts and their locations. Animal Kingdom resorts are must do and wonderful for bringing new guests to experience. EPCOT resorts offer definite location options for targeting planning opportunities and I love the back door to EPCOT. The monorail loop resorts are awesome and the Poly is my favorite of all on grounds. Wiilderness Lodge is is always breathtaking when I walk into the lobby. All have their own atmosphere and I enjoy the variety.
You have to be organized and efficient. The info provided by others is outstanding for planning. It is easier when you have a rental car and it is a pain to have to pack up so frequently. Time spent in the room is minimal and it allows us to use different dining plans if we chose. Extra mugs for each dining plan is a plus. I can't get enough of the Magic and sometimes get sensory overload but being from Michigan trips are limited. Maximizing the experience and balancing activity and exhaustion improves with each trip.

I suppose it is possible. I think it would be easier to do something like that if you stay is a longer stay than like 5-7 days. If you are staying 2 weeks or more, sure why not if you feel like booking 3 resorts you'd like to try.

As others have said it is totally possible and I have done it. I learned that for my family it is a pain in the neck. It is so much more relaxing to pick one "home base" for our time. The one situation that I like to do multiple resorts is if I arrive the day before my park visits are planned and I stay at a moderate for one night to save money (I'm not rich but I will only stay at Deluxes for my park days).

I am booking 12, maybe even 13 days for my trip next year. But I am leaning more and more towards just doing 2 resorts - AKL the first 2 or 3 nights and the remaining 9 or 10 at the Poly.
