Is Be Our Guest similar enough to CRT that we shouldn't do both for dinner, back-to-back?

Just curious: I haven't been to CRT in 10 years, and have never seen Be Our Guest.

On our upcoming trip, ADR availability permitting, we'll be having dinner in the Magic Kingdom at Cinderella's Royal Table on my daughter's birthday, which happens to fall over the vacation, at her special request.

As for dinner the night before, however, we're undecided. We all agree that we want to try Be Our Guest, but we also want to have a variety of restaurant experiences. I realize that CRT is a princess character meal and BOG just has the Beast. However, are these places otherwise too similar to justify two back-to-back dinners? Are they "apples and oranges," or just "Cinderella's apple versus a newer, more toothsome apple?" Does one ever get tired of a constant stream of fancy dinners in dimly-lit castles? Is the Be Our Guest menu really "French" enough to taste appreciably different from the CRT items?

I'm just wondering if we shouldn't have dinner somewhere more "diverse" from CRT (e.g., Liberty Tree Tavern) and try Be Our Guest for a counter service lunch instead. I'd appreciate your thoughts.

Hmmmm that is a good question! We really loved BOG because the theming is just amazing! For me liberty tree isn't much different than either of them. It is all American cuisine really. A meat, side and veggie.

We really loved our food at BOG and they do have different dishes than CRT. Since you daughter chose CRT for her birthday then I bet she would love BOG too!

BOG definitely has a different feel than character dining.

That's not true. We did dinner in Sept and they had Cinderella, Snow White, sleeping beauty, Ariel & belle. It was great!!you also get a free picture with Cinderella before you get seated. The fairy god mother was not there at all.
Thanks the cm on the phone sounded clueless! I booked BOG and was thinking about CRT and the cm talked me out of it! That's ok because my boys really didn't want to go! Glad it wasn't on my must do list only the maybe!

I've had plenty cm's give me the wrong info over the phone also. If you want to know for sure always check the website. It is for girls though, I don't think your boys would have been into it.

I would skip CRT entirely. The food has really gone down hill and the character interactions are fairly poor. BoG has much better food, but it is not a character meal. You can do a photo with the Beast on the way out, but that is it. If you are looking for a great princess character meal, 1900 park fair would be my choice.

The CM had old information. (I'm guilty of repeating the same thing recently here -- I was swiftly corrected! CRT used to be just the Godmother at dinner, but that's no longer the case.)

I'd skip CRT in favor of BOG, too, if it were only up to me. However, dinner at CRT is the birthday wish of my turning-six-year-old daughter, who will have waited two years for it by the time this dinner takes place. :)

The princess interaction with my daughter was excellent. Snow White even kissed my daughter on the cheek and left her lipstick mark.

We've done all 3 meals at CRT and BoG dinner and I consider them to be very different meals. I'd do them both if you can. We prefer the food at CRT breakfast over the other 2 meals we've had there...so maybe that could help balance it out more.

Speaking of which...when we did BoG dinner we had CRT breakfast that same morning. I know a lot of people favor this plan...i.e. making it a day of 2 castles :D

Also, I think the changeover for dinner (i.e. all princess meal) took place in 2010.

As for CRT vs. Akershus...I like the dinner and lunch food at Akershus better, but I prefer the castle setting and vibe at CRT. Wasn't all that into Akershus breakfast.

One Little Spark...
I got to CRT twice every trip. My last trip, the food was markedly better then the previous two trips, but as has been noted, the food still isn't great.

Something fun to do is book late, so you are inside the castle for the fireworks. I did this quite by accident one trip, and it was a wonderful surprise.
