Is 18 too young?

I'm wanting to buy into the DVC either the end of this year when I go back to WDW in December or early next year sometime. My question is this, since I'm only 18, am I too young for the DVC. I figure I buy into it for 50 years, that way I'm still going on vacations when I'm 68 and not regretting it at all. I was planning on getting a new car this year but find it pointless in the fact that I can't get 50 years out of that and joy and new memories each year too. Money isn't a factor with this, but am I too young or at the perfect age for this? Thanks in advance!

Buddy, you dont know what the next few years are going to bring you. Its probably not a good idea to get into DVC until you have a family. Just using it on 2 people can be a waste. Im wating to go into it for that reason. until then i bought a new car just recently and prohibited myself from going to wdw anytime soon so i kinda messsed that up myself.... BUT isnt she pretty?

Well like I said, money isn't an issue and I don't want to spend the money on a new car. Because knowing me, I'd go out and buy a Ferrari or RR or something along those lines and I don't want to do that, I'd rather have something that will mean something to me 50 years from now. And it wouldn't be just for two people, it would be for my girlfriend and I yes, but also my whole family and extended family. I think of it as a way to bring us all together, I want to take my grandparents on vacation and spend quality time with them. I've never had a lot of family together other than holidays and family reunions, I'd rather those happen at WDW. I don't mind spending the money on DVC as I think it's one of the greatest things out there. There's no way I would go out and buy a car which would then stop me from going to WDW. I'm not saying what you did was bad, I just think that it's a better investment for me to do this. I work in real estate and know that you can live off of investing in it. Cars depreciate in value, real esate appreciates. That's one more reason I think this would be better, I know if I want to sell it sometime down the road, which I never would, I can still get my money I invested in return and also have memories that will last a lifetime to go with it.

If you're really only interested in visiting Walt Disney World and money is no object, why not buy a townhouse in Celebration? I would think that you'd get a lot of return on your investment there.

I'm moving to Celebration next year as it is already. I'm going to be finishing up my college in FL and want to live nowhere else but Celebration. I've been looking into the townhomes and might be getting one. The thing I like about DVC is I can travel the world and go to all the Disney parks. I grew up the first four years of my life in Switzerland and would love to be able to go overseas again and spend some time there and the rest of Europe. True, I will be spending about 90% of my DVC points at WDW but would love to travel the world some years, too. I just got off the phone with DVC and should be getting a package within a week with more information.

well it sounds like you have already made up your mind. My parents have been DVC members for a while now, they basically bought it because of me LOL!! Not saying they don't love Disney too, but my mom could go every other year but I had to go at least once a year.
