Is '13 bad luck?

Hello All,

Spending the day browsing a few different Disney sites. Each talking about the changes that have started this year... magic bands, construction, RFID cups, Disney Springs, and etc. And as someone who goes every year, I'm excited and thrilled to see Disney attempting to improve their parks; in a few days I'm taking two friends who have never been and I'm starting to worry that with all the changes and construction should we have waited? I mean if it was your first time at Disney and all these things were happening, would it ruin the experience?

RFID mugs have nothing to do with the 4 main parks. Disney Spring, too, in no way impacts the park experience. The magic bands are still optional, so if you want to avoid problems there, you can opt not to use them (I know I would.)

That leaves construction, which is really only "ugly" at the MK. It doesn't bother me. It's kind of fun to see things get built! I don't think it will ruin a vacation!

Also, be aware that some rides that didn't have FP lines in the past now have them, so follow a good plan.

First timers... no , the changes won't affect their first time because they have nothing to compare the first trip to. Let them get immersed in all that Disney has to offer. There's so much to see and do. There will be enough things to impress, awe, delight them that they will enjoy thouroughly. You on the other hand have to stay positive, dont tell them about what changes you see, comparing old with new, or don't like because then you will influence them negatively. Let yourself follow their lead looking at Disney with newbie eyes and just let yourself be their guide to all the finer things of Disney.

The changes and construction going on will not impact your trip at all. Just be sure to chk out the refurbs list so you know ahead a time instead of being disappointed when you get there. Have a great trip!!!
