Irene Bedard (the voice of Disney's animated "Pocahontas") will be starring in a live production at Bassett Hall in Colonial Williamsburg next week (July 21) as part of Cherokee Week there. I love Colonial Williamsburg anyway, but this seems like an especially nice series of events, including the play, "The Beloved Woman," which features Bedard and actor Wes Studi, in a production that highlights historic events about Cherokees who visited Williamsburg in an attempt to broker a peace with the British and Patrick Henry before the time of the American Revolution.

The whole week seems interesting to me. I will try to make it to something, if not the play.

I do recommend Colonial Williamsburg itself to you all. It is often called "Colonial Disneyland," since it is somewhat kid-friendly and has modern bathrooms, but hey, it is still much more authentic (Real glass!! Real, working house shutters! Horse-poop! Working guns and muskets! No audio-animatronics!) than even Disney, although I must admit that it is what helped me to appreciate some ofthe attempted authenticity at the MK (which also has real glass at the Liberty Tree Tavern). It is also nice to walk where the patriots walked.
