Man, there has to be something better than IRC from which to get Disney music. You have to be a computer genius to operate in that environment. I'm looking for something much simpler. Any other suggestions for sound sources?

Irc really isn't that hard. Visit:
http://www.wdwresortv.com

There are 2 guides:

One under the IRC heading that tells you the basic settings. The commands are not really that hard:
cd ((directoryname)) - to get into a directory
dir - to see a listing of the files in that directory
get filename.ext - to get the file

Link for the basic settings:
http://www.wdwresorttv.com/irc.htm
Link for the commands:
http://www.wdwresorttv.com/irc2.htm

The other guide is a downloadable PDF that describes Invision - which makes mIRC even easier. It drives everything with mouse clicks, so there are no more commands to remember. You want to go into a directory you double click on the name. you want a file, you double click on the file name. That's it - that simple.

You need to realize the Popkid server alone has over 60 gigs of data. To house it on a web server would be intensive in bandwidth (we serve up several gigs of data per day) and upkeep (new files are being added on a regular basis). The site would need to become a paid service and that is something we want to stay away from.

If you encounter a specific problem - ask - there are lots of knowledgable people here to help you. But start with the 2 guides, they are step by step written and contain 100% of what you need to know to get files. Plus I just added the direct links to make it even easier.

Well, I am not Popkid but I will say thanks anyway. Many of the captures (video) on that site are from me.

To make downloading files a breeze in IRC, I use Invision2.0, which is a script for the Mirc program. You can get it here:

http://invision.lebyte.com/

Simply do a full install
Start the Invision2.0 program and it will run Mirc. Put in your info and connect to the NEWNET IRC NETWORK. Now join the #disney-central channel.

As soon as you are in the channel.. type in

!list

in the chat window. Invision2.0 should pop open a trigger capture window. Now double-lick on the !videos in that window and a file browser will pop up. It's as easy as pointing and clicking to retrieve the files you want. You may be put in the que to wait your turn to download, so all you have to do is minimize and hang out in the #disney-central channel until the download starts. If you're using WindowsXP, make sure you don't have the WindowsXP Firewall enabled (it's in your network properties under the advanced tab).

Good luck! Invision2.0 really makes downloading files from IRC as easy as clicking links in a web browser.

Thats the one DisneyJedi I just checked my HDD on my server where I keep downloaded files and surely enough Invision2 is what I have been using, it's so much easier isnt it you only have to use !list and the Trigger and the rest is done by mouse.

I'm not much of a computer expert, but I do know that disabling the firewall is not safe and not recommended.

I have my own network with Server and everything in my computer room and im a bit of a Computer !!!NERD!!! as my msn nickname clearly states lol, I never use a firewall any more because they just get in the way of everything I try and do, Yes I use an antivirus on my server because if that goes down i'v lost everything again, but on all my client machines I never use anti virus software once again because they just get in the way and slow things down.

I use the firewall built into my router. I only open the ports I know that I need open for what I want to do. It's redundant for me to enable the XP firewall in my situation.

I am completly lost with all of this (and getting really frusturated, but I'm going to keep plugging along because I want all that disney stuff)
Please excuse me if this question sounds stupid.
Once you download these things, could you put them on a CD? And, will the CD be a listening CD, or more of a DVD?
Like, can I burn some of the "shows" onto a CD to view later, or does it all have to stay in my computer? And, do i need special software to do it? I have a CD burner. But I don't believe I have a DVD burner (only dvd player)
Please help a lost soul:cry:

Have you looked at the IRC intro guide at WDWResortTV.com ?

You can easily just burn all the files you download to CD-recordable discs (as a data CDROM), but you'll have to play them back on your computer unless you have a DVD player that can play DIVX AVI files (they are just debuting now. See Polaroid DivX Certified Progressive-Scan DVD Player - Model: DVP-0600 )
OR
You can convert the files you download to VCD which should play in a standalone DVD player.

Yes, I did look there, but like someone mentioned earlier, you have to be a computer wiz to get all this stuff.
Thanks for your speedy response!

No problem. To make it even easier, I recommend you install Mirc and then install Invision2.0 from http://invision.lebyte.com/xdownload.shtml
It will add a graphical interface so that when you type a trigger in the channel (such as !video) a nice filebrowser will popup. Then it is as simple as point and click for files you want.

I second the motion for Invision. Just make sure you download exactly the same version as your Mirc program. I did not realise this first time round and it messed things up.

My suggestion is to do what I did - read the instructions a few times. After about three passes the various bits started to make sense in how they relate to one antother.

Stick with it, once you get your head around it, it makes sense and is not that difficult. Especially with Invision.

Thanks for all the positive comments.
I printed out all the directions so I don't have to keep switching screens. Only problem is, the directions must be for an older version of mIRC, because the pictures don't match up with what I'm seeing on my screen. But I will def. d/l what u two told me to and try to take it from there.

Thanks so much for all your help so far!
