IRC assistance

I am not extremely familiar with Mirc, but not compeltely inept.

Anyway, I was trying to find ride videos last night using Mirc and ran into a few problems. I would appreciate any help.

I followed the popkid.com guide and was able to get onto Newnet and eventually into the #Disney-Central channel.

1. I had a heck of a time joining any of the servers. When I would try to connect it would be several minutes before I got one. Some errors I was was BANNED: enabled IDENT (I checked the options, it was.) Was this normal behavior?

2. I would eventually find a server that would accept me and I would get into the channel. I tried !list and nothing would come up. I tried !help and the !list command wasn't listed as one of the options. What am I missing here.

There was a couple of bot'd messages that would appear between trivia questions. I was able to get TONGOROA's MP3 list and succeeded in downloading a couple MP3s. I know there is more out there then this but I am having problems.

That's normal, so don't sweat it. Happens to me all the time. This is typical behavior for any server on irc.. that's the error message some servers give when they are filled to capacity. It's a stupid message as it makes the person think they did something wrong and are banned. Not your fault at all. You can try the links in my sig (1,2,3, etc) to hopefully find one that connects faster next time.

Not your fault again. The Popkid fileserver decided it didn't like irc anymore and took a small vacation without telling any of us. I just let Alan know and he fixed it up and got it back into the channel. Now those commands you were trying should work.

Yeah.. tongoroa uses XDCC triggers to offer the files he has. Popkid uses a more interactive fileserver bot to dish out the files. It will pop out a window if your irc settings are correct and you can use the commands listed on popkid's webpage to download files and navigate the file herirachy with them.
