iPod Mini

Just got mine today! A blue one. I read a review the other day that said someone had finally succeeded in topping the original iPod -and of course it was Apple they were talking about with the Mini. A gorgeous piece of machinery - But then what hasn't been from Apple since Steve Jobs came back?(He asks as he types this on his Mac). If you are in market for an MP3 player, hey iPods are the only way to go (Mac or PC). See ya': gotta go play with the new toy some more!

take 1 IBM Microdrive + some apple firmware... and what do you get? The iPod mini... which still owes part of its circuitry to IBM.. hehe.

I do love one thing about the iPod mini... if you can pop it open, you get a 4 gig microdrive for just under half price of retail

MKT-
Actually, from what I've read the iPod mini hard drive doesn't come from IBM. At any rate you are selling short the excellence of Apple's engineering of the controls... Oh, never mind. You are obviously a PC devotee unwilling to grant Apple any credit. But, Hey! I always read all of your posts on Disney topics, and enjoy them. Just let us old Apple devotees relish our (all to brief) moments in the sun.

Acutally MKT, it isn't an IBM drive, and nobody has opened it yet to see if the connectors are for Compactflash or something else. Check ipoding.com for more updates when they open one.

it's a hitachi microdrive... which if I'm correct, was originally designed by IBM.

And unless they changed the design in the last month or so, it's a Compactflash connector (when people found out it was a microdrive, they were buying iPod minis and muvo II's like crazy)

And jojoyner, I do give apple credit, where credit is deserved.. they made the hard drive based mp3 player viable. However, they joined the small memory market just a wee bit too late, after all.. I could've gotten a Creative muvo before an ipod mini, which would've done the exact same thing. I do like the physical appearance of their products though... and I was at one time an iPod owner... but am now reformed.. lol.

That's the great thing about consumerism.. if you don't like a product, there's a competitor that makes one you do like.
