IOA Queues

Is it just me who always goes to IOA and walks through endless and endless ammounts of ropped off queues EVERY time? Even in the buisiest of times.

Ex: Dudley Do-Rights Queue is so long and i've never seen it past the "heads" room right after express joins.

Ex: Popeye and Bluto's Queue is also very long and was so "unbusy" that they were directing everyone through the Express Queue.

Ex: Storm Force Exceleration: WHY i ask, WHY did they build such a huge line for this one...and WHY express??? I've NEVER seen the wait time more than 0 minutes.

Ex: Dueling Dragons- Why did they build such a large line for this one? I know its really interesting but its never used. I never see the line past the loading area...

My experience has been very different from yours

Dudley Doright - Always a long line, except in cold eather
Popeye and Bluto - Same as Dudley Doright
Storm Force - I've never seen a long line for this one. I imagine the line can get bad if other rides in the area are down or it's extremely busy. As far as Express goes, it was probably done to increase the number of attractions on the Express system, so they can say "We have XX attractions on Universal EXPRESS"
Dragons - Most of the time, this line has only started in the Fire or Ice Room or shortly before it. However, I have seen a number of occasions when the line went all the way to the start of the castle.

I've actually encountered what Blake stated more than I have ever seen long lines, with the exception of The Hulk and The Amazing Adventures of Spiderman. For Spiderman I've already stood in line in the outside queue behind the facades for a LONG time before ever entering the long indoor queue.

I think it has a lot to do with when you go (during the year) and what time during the day you get there. If you get there by 9am at park opening, head to Toon Lagoon and walk your way around and you will do EVERYTHING besides Hulk and Spiderman with absolutely NO waits. Yet, they make you walk through the very long queues. Which for the most part are neat to see and I understand them walking you through the rooms, but they could cut some of the walking back and forth down .

As for DD, I've NEVER seen the line beyond the actual load rooms. That isn't to say it doesn't happen, but I've never experienced it myself. On several occasions I see people in front of me turn around inside the castle queue and tell us "this is the wrong way, it doesn't lead anywhere". I of course explain to them to keep going, they're not in a backstage area or anything. Its just really dark to create the mood and we'll see the ride soon. Some don't believe me  I think the way over-did the queue in this one either as a result of expecting crowds that never have materialized on an average day or they underestimated the turn-over for this coaster.

I would say the lines were built for crowds during peak seasons and otherwise are hardly ever used. During the winter months, JP River Adventure, Popeye's and Dudley Do-right never have any lines, even during peak Christmas holiday week during peak times of days (when it is cold, of course). As a result, the lines are actually used for the other rides then. This is when I had to stand in the very long Spiderman ride. But, when you think that three of the 14 rides or so have absolutely NO line, one has to think if those queues would ever fill up if all the people could be spread out among those other 3 attractions

Well i still think that the espress system is not needed on attractions such as Storm Force Acceleration, the MERRy-GO-ROUND!, and Triceritops Encounter (spelling???). Maybe they should get some express on Petredon Flyers or however the heck its spelt- i've never seen a slower line in any theme park world-wide.

I think they should just scrap the whole idea then. Not only does the line move slow, but the ride is short and (especially at the last turn) it whips you around and smashes your head against the seat....Everyone i watched came off in pain, not happy.

It really depends when you go. I went for my birthday in July and the line for dueling dragons (cant remember the time) was all the way out to the dragons by the entrance to the queue.

I also think its maybe a mind thing.

Walking through so mcuh makes you feel good, that you are making distance, especially on the first ride when you are unfamiliar. Id rather walk through the queues than wait in them.

Also, im sure they feared the worst, meaning long lines emptying into the streets and roads. I cant stand when Disney's roped lines go into the paths. I havent seen this happen at IoA.

OMG I find those so annoying and tireing for that matter. Oh and the Dragons won is so confusing. The 1st time we went on we got lost for 10 min and ended up in the exit line. I still get a little confused when I go in there.

Ex: Spidey hulk dragons dudley and many more (not ioa)

Um.....i actually find IOA's queues to be quite boreing. Jurassic Park River Adventure has just back and forward, back and forward...HULK has a very boreing outside queue. Rpisaw Falls is not exciting...I think teh Disney queues are much better themed and are more interesting.

Well...i never did say these were detailed or interesting because they arent..I just said that not all of the IOA ones were when someone said the longer the queue, the more interesting it was and how IOA had interesting queues. Plus, these queues aren't very long anyways. And by the way, if "Safaris" is supposed to mean Kiliminjaro Safaris, thats not a boreing queue...!

I wouldn't say they're better than any of Disney's. Some of IOA's queues are extremely detailed, and remind me of some of Disney's queues. TOT's queue is amazing, but then again, so is Dueling Dragons. I will say that that one is one of the most amazing and detailed I have ever seen. I think they created all the space just to make sure there would be no overcrowding problems, as well as add to the experience. Universal wasn't known for they theming detail, but did an amazing job with many of the queues at IOA.

I do think that the best queue I have ever seen is Indiana Jones at Disneyland.

No, it's not, it's very well done, but it's not the best themed, I can tell you. The themeing is on level with DCA, but has better rides.
