International Drive hotels

Just got some great news today :sohappy: my GF's old college society is having their yearly job fair/convention in 'Orlando' this year! Since we now live in FL and she still has quite a few friends in it, she's going to go for a few days. Which means I get to go and when she is doing engineer stuff, I will just go to WDW!

The convention is at the huge center across from Sea World, so it's not really Orlando, but much closer to WDW. We will be going the first weekend in November. We checked rates and close to the convention center is pretty ridiculous so we were thinking of staying somewhere on I Drive. Where has anyone stayed on I drive before? We would prefer to be south, closer to WDW and the convention, rather than up by Universal.

When she visited me on my CP, she stayed at the Orlando Vista which is right by the DTD gate (the one with the huge pineapples out front) and it was pretty nice for the price, so that is our fallback plan, but we were just looking for other options.

And since we are still fairly poor-just-out-of-college kids, price is the biggest factor. Thanks!

You may have to go further north, closer to Universal rather than south unless you're willing to go south to the W. Bronson Memorial Hwy.

Unfortunately I-Drive south of the SeaWorld/Convention Center area is fairly new, and the few properties that are down that way are mainly family suite, suites, timeshares or deluxe level hotels. The only suggestion I could make for that area is the Sheraton Vistana Villages. See (http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showthread.php?t=584878 for more) They sometimes have some decent deals depending on the time of year, but it's a generally suite style, moderate-deluxe resort. For only two people I imagine there are much better deals elsewhere like near DTD as you said, I-Drive north closer to Universal, or Bronson Hwy to the South
