Interesting (provocative?) new take on Mickey Mouse.

Dig this new official flash (?) animation:

I really like it, certainly a lot more than the ungodly 3D Mickey's clubhouse stuff we've been seeing for years.

The stylistic approach reminds me of the new Looney Tunes show on Cartoon Network- modernizing the characters by simplifying the designs and reverting to the original '30s/'40s proportions.

It looks as though Disney is considering following Warren Spector's lead in reinventing Mickey Mouse as the more mischievous rascal type character he was originally supposed to be rather than the neutered corporate symbol he became.

First off, I love the new cartoons! Secondly, I love the throwback to how Mickey was originally! He was a rascal! But I also think it's good he's kind of 'all things to all people'. He's the soft, cheery, best friend to babies and toddlers, and as they grow they can learn about his more wily side! My 3 year old LOVES these new cartoons, but it doesn't stop her from asking to watch 'Mickeys House' 80 times a day!

Also, it's refreshing to see that they haven't given up on giving us new Mickey cartoons instead of just stuffing 'Clubhouse' down our throats (can you tell I'm on 'Clubhouse overload right now?). I miss when you could turn on the Disney Channel after 10pm and see old cartoons and shows! I wish they'd make a 'Disney Classics' channel.

I love these cartoons! I wish they could be a little longer though.

Disney Channel really needs more shows like these. Last night I saw a commercial for a new show that has a girl that sings.

I wish they would bring back House of Mouse. I've been watching episodes of it on YouTube lately. It was my favorite show growing up. I mean, where else could you get Disney hand-drawn animation that has almost every single Disney character together in one place.? The show was so funny to. :(

I liked the way Minnie's yodel ended...with a "Yoo-Hoo". It's a callback to "Minnie's Yoo-Hoo", a popular song that emerged during Mickey's Golden Age:
My one suggestion for the "No Service" cartoon: They should've used Pete as the burger attendant. Goofy just seemed uncharacteristically angry/grumpy in that role.

I agree. And if they do bring back Pete, I hope they give him back his tail. As a kid I always wondered why Mickey has a tail, and Pete doesn't...(and why Pluto has a tail, but Goofy doesn't...)

I'd like to see them take on Donald Duck next.
The Donald formula is very simple:

1. Donald attempts to partake in some modern day activity.
2. Some sort of mistake or malfunction occurs.
3. Donald becomes enraged.
4. Return to step 2 as needed.
5. Donald destroys everything on screen.

Between smart phones, printers, electric cars, para-sailing, google glasses, and recycling bins, you've got enough material to last years.
