Interesting blog re Thunderstorm on Pirate night

Palo doesn't do anything for me, but I would pay extra to see that storm at sea!!

Actually when we had a back to back 2 x 7 nights on the Fantasy in 2012, we had a very rainy pirate night, people went out and found their place to watch the show, it rained, people went away, then at show time it stopped raining, and they ran the show and fireworks and the second the last firework went up it rained again. Now we didn't bother as we knew Aquaduck opens after the fireworks so were in swimwear and would get wet anyway. In fact we were lucky as we rode it about six times in a row that night before others caught on it was open, and then when lightning came they stopped it.
Brent the cruise director claimed he was the one who said to the Captain he needed 20 mins for the pirate show in the dry and the Captain found it for him going around in circles.

Whilst it may look close the storm isnt on top of them and at sea lightening will go straight to the water not the ship, it will go the quickest route to 'earth' or a conductor, as mentioned before we were on the Fantasy in a storm on fireworks/pirate night and they didn't ask us to go inside, i have seen Aquaduck stopped.

We had quite the storm on our pirate night and there were no fireworks/show...actually, it seemed there was big storms three of the seven nights...
And I can concur with Aquaduck stopping due to lightning. I was stuck sitting on a tube for 10 minutes due to it...
